"I want more warriors patrolling border. I do not want any more rogues getting onto my territory undetected," I gave out orders to my gammas, Elijah and Liam.

"Yes, Alpha," they answered in union and left my office.

What's all this talk about alphas and gammas you might ask?

Well that's simple. You've just stumbled upon a werewolf. Yes that's right, actual werewolves. I am a werewolf. I am the alpha of Blood Moon pack. I took over as alpha when I turned 18. My parents died when I was really young during the war. Elijah was a close family friend and just before they died they asked him to not only take over the duties of alpha until I came of age but to also take care of me. Ever since then he took up both roles. He taught me everything I know about being an alpha and to lead a pack. His son, Lucas, is a couple of years older than me and he was the older brother I never had. Annoying as hell but I love him.

When I turned 18, I was officially given the Alpha title. Elijah continued as gamma but Lucas will take over that position once he retires. The ceremony was long with a lot of formalities but after we all partied and celebrated. Important functions such as these ones are a big deal in the wolf community.

My name is Kai by the way and I recently turned 21. I was supposed to find a mate at 16, however, no matter how hard I tried I could not find one. 'Ahem Kai, aren't you forgetting something.' Oh yes, that's my wolf, Akira. She is basically part of me. The best way I can explain this situation is similar to how Caitlin Snow and Killer Frost are. She is a gift from the Moon Goddess, and Akira gives me the ability to shift. We can switch from one to other but mostly I am in control and she just talks into my mind, advising me and guiding me. Even in wolf form we can switch but she only forces to take control in dire situations which I allow her to do so. I trust her to keep us and our pack safe.

I was informed by my beta, Shay, that there was a new family moving in. With the recent rogue attacks in my territory I had asked my other gamma, Liam, to go check them out the day they moved here. Shay and Liam are my best friends; we have been inseparable since we met that first day in school. Later that day he reported that they were just humans moving into the area. Wolves are able to tell the difference between humans and wolves. Us wolves have this distinguished scent. I wolves' scent is very informative; it tells us whether you belong to our pack, your ranking and you as an individual. It's also how wolves find their mates.

My gammas are responsible for the pack safety and general wellbeing. They oversee and approve training methods of the warriors who are trained by their group leaders. The group leaders then report to the head warriors who then reports to the gammas. The gammas also handle any complaints by other pack members which are then filtered through to my beta or to me. My beta is my right hand person, my second in command when I am unavailable to deal with certain issues due to being occupied with other business. She acts on behalf of the alpha. I oversee everything that happens with this pack. Nothing is done without me knowing about it. Part of running this pack is ensuring that finances are always able to cover expenses needed to take care and run the pack. These are generally secured through business deals with humans, land or transactions between other alphas.

The pack house provides residence for the higher ranking wolves, such as myself, the beta, the gammas and the head warriors along with their mates and pups. A few omegas who take care of the pack house are allowed to stay as well if they choose to do so. My office is also located within the pack house. It also has a hospital wing for those who live in the pack house as the treatment center for wolves is located closer to the high population of wolves.
