I don't even know why I thought there weren't going to be much people here. School is always jam packed. I internally groaned and rolled my eyes as I tried to navigate the hallways through the sea of people. Thank goodness I decided to skip coffee and come straight here; I would not have gotten parking otherwise. Maybe, I'll stop and get coffee afterwards.
Wait... what exactly am I supposed to be doing?
Ohhh right. Office. I need to get my timetable from the office. Hmm. If only I could find it now, that would be nice. It would be easier to ask someone but yeah I ain't doing that. I rather suffer and get lost. Roaming the hallways until eternity...
The bell rang for first period. Still no timetable. I guess I'll be a tad bit late. The crowd of people started thinning out as they hurried to class before the late bell rang which would be in 5 minutes. With absolutely no clue as to where I needed to go I naturally got lost in my thoughts.
Third Person POV
Rounding the corner, absentmindedly, Riley collided with someone with such force that they both lost balance and toppled over. Mumbling soft and quick apologies to her victim, as Riley believed it to be her fault for the small accident; she quickly got off the floor and extended her hand to help the other girl stand up.
Riley refused to make eye contact while she was helping the girl up. She kept her eyes glued to the floor. She looked up when she heard a loud giggle escape the girl's lips. She was a few inches shorter than Riley, with short, red curly hair. She also wore those round glasses that just seemed to tie her look together. She had on a black short sleeved shirt tucked into a skirt that came up to her mid-thigh. All-in-all this look suited this girl really well thought Riley.
"You don't have to be scared. I'm not gonna do anything," she said and giggled again, "I'm Brianna by the way but you can call me Bri...everyone calls me Bri."
"I'm... uh... Riley Kade," Riley rushed out.
"Damn, government name," laughed Brianna, "I haven't seen you around. Are you new here?"
"Yeah, new and very lost. I need to get my timetable-"
"And you couldn't find the office. Don't worry I'm already late so I might as well show you around,"
Relief flushed Riley's entire body as she followed Bri to the office. She felt a bit stupid after realizing that she actually walked right past the office. The somewhat oldish lady that worked at reception was really sweet and gave strict instructions to Bri to show Riley around and help her get settled once they saw that they both had the same classes.
Apologizing for their lateness, they quickly found two empty seats at the back and sat down for math.
First period went by without a hitch. Both girls sat quietly, paying full attention to what was being taught and taking notes. Occasionally, Brianna would raise her hand seeking more clarity on certain topics to which Riley was highly grateful for as she to too needed further explanation on similar topics but was too scared to ask.
The first few periods went by and Riley stayed close to Bri's side as she pointed out certain places to Riley as they walked from one class to the next. Eventually lunch rolled around and the pair made their way to the cafeteria and stood in line to get something to eat while Bri continued explaining about the school while Riley listened. She was slowly becoming more comfortable around Bri and would comment at regular intervals when she found something particular interesting.
"Oh look, guys, 2 nerds," Riley and Bri heard from behind them. Turning to investigate the source they saw 3 girls behind them.
"Move aside, losers," the middle one said snobbishly. Riley determined that that one clearly seemed to be the ring leader. Bri gently pulled Riley out of the line, rolling her eyes as far back as they could go, allowing the 3 trio to pass them.
"The blonde one in the middle is Delilah; she's basically your average entitled bitch. The other two, Stacey and Gina, are basically her lackeys. Just ignore them," informed Bri. 'Even in a place like this the high school experience is the same,' thought Riley as she sighed overdramatically, making the red head giggle opposite her.
"As I was saying before we were so rudely interrupted," Bri continued, "The school mascot is a wolf coz of the high population of wolves that live in this area."
"I hear wolves howling all the time," Riley commented.
The two continued talking about the school and the town as they ate their lunch.
The remainder of the day drew on and eventually the bell rang signaling the end of the day. Gathering up their belongings, Riley and Brianna made their way to their lockers to dump unnecessary things in there.
"Hey, do you wanna get some coffee?" Riley asked as she closed her locker shut and turned to look at her new friend.
"As long as it's (insert coffee shop name). Its only like the best coffee place in town!" Bri said excitedly, "We can walk there."
"We can just take my car and I can drop you off at home. I don't mind."
"You convinced me. Let's gooooo!"
Bri was stunned into awe and silence when she saw Riley's car. This only caused Riley to laugh in return.
"Get in you dork," Riley said as she jumped into the driver's seat and started the car. Once Bri got in and put her seatbelt one, Riley shot out of the school parking lot headed towards (insert coffee shop name).
