Kamdyn ended up skipping Daytona, which sucked since it was one of her favorite tracks. She was still a little iffy about being near Macey and didn't want to be stuck in the pit box with her.

The first few months of the racing season were nothing short of a rollercoaster. She didn't go to every single race like she wanted but more went to the really important ones to her. The tracks her dad loved. she made sure to keep a note of the ones she was at (besides Daytona) and where he placed.

Daytona Duel: 3rd
Daytona 500: 8th
Atlanta: 7th
Talladega: 2nd
Dover: 3rd

And now it was time for Darlington. Throwback weekend. The week leading up to it was nothing short of stressful. Families and fans from all over the place came, as well as a lot of people from the Charlotte area as it was only a 2 hour or so drive.

Tuesday was like any other day. Until she got home.

As soon as she pulled up to her house, she could tell something was wrong. She saw the smoke billowing out from the windows and saw the Amber orange flames through the glass.

As soon as she stopped her car, she grabbed her keys, ran inside, and tried to save whatever she could. Her parents' ashes, her safe with everything she needed, and anything that held any value to her. Luckily most of what she needed was right in the front room, but she didn't get out unscathed. A few hot embers had landed on her skin, resulting in some burns, not to mention the coughing she was doing from the smoke inhalation.

As soon as she got back outside and had fresh air to breathe, she collapsed in her driveway trying to get the coughing back under control.

The fire department pulled up less than a minute later as well as an ambulance, all of them jumping out and attacking the flames coming from her home.

The paramedics easily got her up and helped her walk over to where they'd set up the stretcher and put her on oxygen immediately.

She grabbed her phone from her back pocket, pulling up Ryan's contact information.

"Hey Kam what's up?" He answered, just pulling up to his house.

"Fire," she tried to get out through coughs but she was having trouble. "House on fire,"

"Kam? You're making no sense,"

"House fire. Can you come?" She coughed out.

"Be right there,"

She hung up her phone and laid back, letting them look at her arm that had been burned. They didn't have much that they could do for it but put some cream on it and cover it, but she'd still need it double-checked at the hospital.

Ryan pulled up as close as he could but with the trucks blocking the street, that was hard. He got out and ran up the street, looking for any sign of the woman he worked with daily.

"Kam?!" He yelled, looking around until he saw the familiar shoe sticking out from behind the ambulance. "Kam?"

She looked at him with a mixed face of sadness and confusion. Her eyes were still watering from the smoke she'd inhaled and the smoke in the air.

"What happened?" He asked, hugging her tightly as she took the oxygen mask off.

"I just came home," she coughed, "and it was on fire. I had to get the ashes."
