Chapter-8

Vanitas walked around aimlessly in the black void, trying to find something that might pique his interest. It had been maybe a few hours. Walking continuously for this long should have tired him out, but he didn't even feel a single muscle in his body ache. It felt like he was lighter than a feather. Something was wrong with him, and he knew it, but his eyes could only see black.

"Tch... what a waste..." he muttered.

Suddenly, a source of light appeared in front of him. Vanitas ran towards it, curious about what it might be. As he got closer to the source, he realized that he wasn't the only one coming near; the light embraced him.

'Cold,' Vanitas thought.

It was freezing, and Vanitas could feel the gust of wind on his face.

'Wait... wind?' Vanitas opened his eyes and saw that he was falling.

"What! How?!" Vanitas positioned himself for the impact but was shocked to find out that his hands didn't look the same as before. His hands were smaller—no, he didn't shrank; he was in his younger self's body.

As Vanitas got distracted, he didn't notice the tree in front of him and crashed. The twigs and leaves of the tree dug into his skin as he fell, but he still couldn't feel anything. During the fall, his leg got tangled in a rope-like branch from the tree, and he hung upside down.

"Ugh! I know I can't somehow feel pain right now, but this is bothersome," Vanitas grumbled and tried to untie himself.

*Thump*

He fell... on his head. Vanitas stood up, rubbing his head, and started looking around. The tall trees with rope-like branches were everywhere. No one was in sight; it was just him, all alone. Vanitas looked up and saw there were no stars in the sky, but a blue moon shone brighter than ever. Everything was quiet, slowly and slowly dancing with the leaves.

"Hehehehe," a giggle sounded, echoing in the quiet forest.Vanitas looked around skeptically, his guard still up.

"Big brother..."

Vanitas froze. He knew this voice very well. How could he not if this was the person he spent half of his life with?

"Mikhail..." Vanitas whispered. He tried to find where the voice came from, but no one was around.

"Did you miss me...?" The voice came again, but this time it was just next to him. Vanitas turned around but still found no one.

"What's going on?" He muttered.

"You'll know soon~" The voice said before everything turned white.

Vanitas snapped open his eyes and found Shu looking at him with a worried face. Although it changed within a second, Vanitas still noticed it.

Shu teleported at the door and before going out said, "Get ready for school; it's almost time."

'What was that?' Vanitas thought. He then hopped out of bed.

'Whatever, let's just get ready...' he muttered while going to the bathroom to change.

Vanitas got downstairs and found Reiji standing alone."Yo, Specs-kun!" He shouted enthusiastically and walked toward Reiji while grinning. "So, am I late?"

Reiji sighed and replied, "No, in fact, you are 3 minutes early, and please refrain from calling me that."

"Sure, Specs-kun! Whatever you say!"

Reiji just ignored him and waited for his brother and Yui to arrive.

"So, will you answer my previous quest-"

"No."

"Hey, I didn't even finish saying. It's rude, you know."

"I am aware I am being rude, but the question you asked is inappropriate and out of context."

"Hey, don't be like that-"

(A/N: Hi dear readers! 

I am really sorry for not updating. I think I said this before but I have a lot of exams goinging on. I am in board class and from now on it is going to be much more difficult to update because of board exams coming soon, infact my pre boards have started.

So, the updates will be irregular. I always write chapter when I am bored or  I am in school, therefore if I get some time I will make sure to update!!
