Chapter 1

══ ◈ ══

HAWAK ang aking bouquet ay naglakad ako sa gitna ng aisle, habang ang mga bata naman sa gilid ay sinasaboy ang mga bulalak na nasa basket nila. Some of the petals brushed against my long, beautiful wedding gown.

Slowly, I lifted my gaze to the front. Smiling, I looked at the man I would marry today. He smiled back at me, and I was overwhelmed with joy.

The moment I had long awaited, the man I had loved for so long, stood before me, ready to be my partner for life. I felt like I was floating on air with happiness, a day I would never forget.

“Do you take Faerie as your lawfully wedded wife to have and to hold from this day forward?” the priest asked with a smile, glancing at Kyro.

I felt Kyro’s grip on my hand tighten, causing me to wince slightly, but I quickly regained my composure as he answered, “I do.”

“Faerie, do you take Kyro as your lawfully wedded husband to have and to hold from this day forward?” the priest asked with a playful smile, making me blush.

Ignoring his playful demeanor, I looked into Kyro’s eyes. “Yes, I do,” I responded with a smile, and the man in front of me smiled back.

“Then, I humbly declare, husband and wife! You may now kiss the bride,” masayang sabi ng pari saka siya lumayo ng kaunti sa aming dalawa at sinenyasan kaming maghalikang dalawa.

Na-estatwa naman ako nang itinaas ni Kyro ang aking veil. Hindi pa niya ako nahahalikan kaya kinakabahan ako.

Yes, he hadn’t kissed me yet. We weren’t even in a relationship. I had just started working at his company after recently graduating from college. A week after graduating, I received a job offer from an unknown person, but I accepted it and fortunately got the job. Kyro was my classmate and my crush since our first year of college until graduation.

I gasped as he gently held my face, leaned in, and kissed me. It was quick, and I wanted more. It was just a peck, but I longed for a deeper kiss.

Kyro let go of my face, took my hand, and raised it in the air. Smiling, we waved at our guests.

The wedding ceremony ended, and we headed to a hotel where Kyro and I would spend the night. It was exhausting but worth it.

“Here’s the key, open it,” Kyro said, handing me the key to our room. I grabbed it and quickly opened the door.

We were still in our wedding attire when we entered our room.

“The view is beautiful, isn’t it?” I murmured, pointing to the glass window in front of us.

The city lights looked like stars from up here. I smiled again and gazed at him.

I was surprised when he suddenly picked up a remote from the side and pressed a button. As the window slowly opened, a strong breeze rushed in. I held a strand of my hair by my ear, savoring the cool air that filled our hotel room.

He grabbed my waist without a word, and I was shocked when he grinned suspiciously and tightened his grip.

“Do you really think I married you because I love you?” he sneered, his smirk sending chills down my spine.
