Mabel takes center stage in the gym with an unexpected announcement. She confidently declares, "I'm throwing a party tomorrow night, and you're all invited." Mabel moves around, distributing invitations to us, creating an air of intrigue and anticipation.

Perplexed by the sudden invitation, I inquire, "Is it a birthday party?" Mabel dismisses the idea, shaking her head and pouting. She responds, "No, why would it be?" Her answer leaves me curious as I receive the invitation. I raise a valid point, noting that usually, we just announce parties rather than handing out formal invitations.

Mabel, unorthodox as ever, shrugs off the convention. "We do in my village, besides, it sets the mood," she explains, her eyes locked on me. Her demeanor exudes confidence as she sits up and shares the theme for the party. "The theme is your best costume. Besides, Halloween is coming up," she announces, infusing an element of festivity into her plans.

The theme sparks confusion among some of us. Alexandra questions the necessity of another Halloween party, to which Mabel simply shrugs and confidently states, "But mine will be better."

I challenge her claim, asking, "What makes you so sure?" Mabel, unwavering in her determination, glares at me and asserts, "Because I throw the best parties." I press for a promise, and she nods in agreement, "Traverse mon cœur, j'espère mourir," (Cross my heart, i hope to die) .

With a sense of curiosity, I asked, "Can I bring a plus one?" With Mia in my mind, and Mabel responded, "The more, the merrier."

Alex, always eager for information, inquired, "So what's on the agenda tonight?"

Mabel, with a mischievous grin, dropped her bombshell. "Tonight's after-school meeting is on the topic of pranks," she announced. An eerie silence fell over our group as we processed the unexpected turn of events.

Alex, in his usual candid manner, responded with a baffled, "Oh, that was it?" Alexandra slapped his arm with a scowl, clearly disapproving of his lack of tact. Kara voiced her skepticism, wondering, "Pranks? What are we, five?" Her tone expressed her lack of enthusiasm, while I stifled a smirk, finding the situation oddly amusing.

Mabel, undeterred by our initial reaction, continued to explain her plan. "You don't understand," she emphasized, her tone becoming more serious. "These are more serious pranks, or you could say, crimes." She raised a perfectly arched brow, leaving us all with a sense of unease.

Alex expressed his concern, saying, "I don't like where this is going." For the first time, Daniel chimed in, sharing his perspective on the matter. "We should do it. I know a few people who deserve a 'prank.' It's all in good fun," he argued, before retreating into his book, burying himself in its pages.

I couldn't help but look at Mabel, who appeared intrigued by Daniel's response. "I like the way you think, Daniel. You're my new favorite," she declared. Alex couldn't contain his frustration and shouted a protest, but Mabel shut him up, asserting, "Hush, you were never a factor." With that, Mabel stood up and invited us to follow her as we hesitantly followed.

"Friends, huh?" I remarked, my eyes fixed on the unusual contents within Mabel's locker. Her response was a subtle smile, and she began to heave out a duffle bag. With a graceful crouch, she unzipped the bag, unveiling its startling contents. My eyes widened in astonishment at the sight that met me.

"These are my friends," Mabel declared with a touch of whimsy, prompting an unexpected reaction from our group. Alexandra let out a shriek of surprise and quickly backed away, seeking refuge behind Alex, who appeared equally unnerved. Inside the duffle bag, the rodents squeaked and rustled about, their presence an unexpected shock.
