You woke up feeling very refreshed, at a time where the sun was already far above the horizon and the tree line. For a couple minutes, you stared at the ceiling while blinking to adjust your eyes to this new lightning as well as reconnect your brain with your body which you stretched for a little while.

Looking around the room, you found Clem sitting on a chair, leaned back into it with her feet onto the table. She was reading a little novel book, and the washed up wrinkled front cover made you think it was a crime one. Between two pages she'd just flipped, she looked in your direction with an oddly serious face that felt a bit off.

- Mornin', she simply said before plunging back into her book.

- You too, you groaned while stretching once more before sitting on the edge of the bed, holding your head which felt a little dizzy as you stood too fast. (You sniffed, and hoped you didn't catch a cold yesterday.) Say, you got any plans for today ? I mean, just relaxing is nice, and we've got a good stock of about everything we need, but y'know. Can't do this forever.

- I dunno, she shrugged while flipping another page. It's too late for me to go on a looting run anyways.

- And what about the camp ? You got any ideas to improve it ?

She shrugged once again, still focused on her book. You started to wonder if she was actually reading it or just pretending to do so to avoid eye contact. Because from what you can see, those pages have a decent amount of lines, and you doubt she could read them as fast as she does right now.

- No, not really. The traps are still holding, the garden's been watered with the rain anyway, and it's not like we got the materials to start building a fence all around us.

- Yeah, I see... (She hummed and flipped another page.) So do we just, like, chill for another day ?

- I guess that's we're doing. We should keep schooling AJ too.

- Sure. He's making some good progress.

She hummed in acknowledgement, and you hummed back. A silence fell down, and you cleared your throat while standing up. Clem followed you with her eyes, then she put her feet off the table, threw her book onto the bed and stood up.

You both grabbed your weapons without a word, put them onto your shoulders and left the cabin. The air outside was filled with humidity, and the somewhat familiar smell of wet soil and grass filled your nose. Taking a few deep breaths of that pure air felt like it was clearing your lungs.

Clementine looked at you taking deep breaths in a weird way, then just shook her head in incomprehension and walked to the cabin AJ and Curtis were in. You followed her lead, trying to keep your eyes on the back of her neck and not down there.

When you entered the cabin, you saw AJ sitting on the bed, slowly rubbing Curtis' side as he'd curled up on his legs. When Curtis saw you, he woofed a bit and got off AJ to jump on the floor and come greet you. With great pleasure, you gave him a fair share of pets and praises before sending him off with a few pats on his butt.

Meanwhile, Clem had walked up to AJ and gave him a kiss on the forehead as well as a hug.

- Slept well ? (AJ nodded, and Clem rubbed his hair with a smile.) My little goofball.

She then proceeded to tickle him a bit, and AJ laughed in such a precious way it kind of warmed up your heart. Once she was done, AJ wiped the tears off his eyes and looked at you before waving hi. You waved back with a smile, then put the Mossberg on the table.

- How you doing buddy ? you asked after walking up to him, standing next to Clem who was observing the scene.

- Good, he replied in a nosy voice. (He quickly looked at Clem, then at you.) Sleep good ?
