Danielle's POV:
Tonight, we have an MV shoot scheduled for 7 p.m. I've been here for a while, but I haven't seen Hanni yet. Hanni is usually punctual, so she might be in the dressing room or somewhere nearby. This means I need to meet with the director first and discuss things before Hanni arrives.
As I entered the room, I noticed the director deep in thought, gazing out the window. Interestingly, this director appeared quite young, possibly even around my age.
The only issue is that our new director... remarkably resembles Haerin.
Well, not just a resemblance—it is Haerin, our director is Kang Haerin.
I couldn't believe my eyes. My heart raced, and my reactions became erratic.
I wasn't sure how to handle the situation. I hadn't yet figured out how to explain the events of the past year to Haerin. Should I act as if I don't recognize her?
My mouth moved faster than my brain could process. Before I could consider my options, I blurted out, "Hi," with a wry smile, "you're our new director this time, right?"
Haerin nodded, and she still had that same shy look she had a year ago.
If I hadn't adapted to being an idol so quickly, I might have frozen in front of Haerin right now.
She looked beautiful, just like the feeling of walking in Seoul on a snowy night at 9 p.m., with no worries or pressures, simply blending into the serene night. It felt like being free without any rules or barriers to hold me back. It was the same feeling as the warmth of a North Face coat when it's minus 2 degrees.
My heart felt like it was about to leap out of my chest, and I realized I truly missed her. Maybe a hug would help, but I didn't dare to make such a move.
My face flushed, and I couldn't bring myself to look at Haerin. "Nice to work with you, Danielle."
Her voice remained the same, and she looked so gentle, especially when she smiled.
I felt like I couldn't stand there for much longer, or I'd go crazy. "I hope our collaboration goes smoothly. Hanni is running a bit late, so I'll give her a call, and we can discuss the MV in more detail."
It's absurd, Danielle. You like her so much, but you have to pretend you don't know her.
Meanwhile, in the dressing room:
"Don't do that here; we might get caught, Hanni."
"How did they find out? I miss you so much, Kim Minji... Just one kiss, okay?"
Minji blushed, momentarily captivated by Hanni's gaze, struggling to resist. Before becoming a bodyguard at HYBE, Minji had been the daughter of Seoul's most powerful mafia boss. It all began when, during a kidnapping operation targeting the tycoon's daughter, Minji accidentally captured Hanni Pham in business class. Subsequently, Minji became HYBE's bodyguard, serving both Danielle and Hanni.
No matter how tough or ruthless she appeared on the outside, Kim Minji's most challenging task was turning down Hanni, especially when she was looking at her with those obnoxious yet endearing eyes. She knew she was about to give in.
"The dating ban is over, and you're mine now."
Hanni's voice grew softer as if she were trying to persuade Minji to give up the enormous fortune she was about to inherit in Seoul.
Minji realized there was no escape. She reluctantly nodded.
Hanni gradually wrapped her arm around Minji's shoulder, drawing her closer, and the height difference prompted Hanni to raise her legs, almost reaching Minji's lips.
Suddenly, there was a noise in the corridor outside, as the door opened, causing the two of them to pause.
"HANNI PHAM, I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE. COME OUT IMMEDIATELY. DOOMSDAY IS HAPPENING IN HEAVEN!!!!"
Hanni understood the situation, and Kim Minji had already slipped away. Hanni was annoyed, knowing she'd have to make Minji pay double this time.
Danielle still couldn't calm down, struggling to catch her breath as she told Hanni, "Our director... is Kang Haerin."
"I knew that already."
"HANNI PHAM?"
"I sent you pictures on Instagram, but Minji told you had left your phone in your house."
"So, instead of telling me when you came to work, you two decided to build a love castle in here."
"My fault :)))... Or Minji's fault; she looks incredibly attractive today."
"Absolutely... Now, what should we do, Hanni?"
"What did you do earlier?"
"I pretended not to recognize her."
"Go into the room to discuss the MV and then figure things out later."
"Okay."
Before entering the room, I had to take 15 deep breaths to ensure I didn't say something utterly foolish.
Yet, even though I tried, I found myself fixated on Haerin's lips as she discussed the script. It wasn't until Haerin stopped that I managed to regain my composure. I'd probably ask Hanni to fill me in on what I missed later.
"That's the gist of it. If nothing changes, we'll be shooting tomorrow," Haerin said, speaking slowly.
