Danielle's POV:
Today is October 31st, which means it's Halloween. HYBE has meticulously prepared for tonight's party, and I'm quite certain that Haerin has been invited. However, to find out if she's attending, I may need to ask Hanni. I'm not sure if it's due to jealousy or a genuine preference, but it seems like Haerin likes Hanni more than she likes me. It's true; Haerin has mentioned that Hanni is her bias.
After Hanni confirmed that Haerin would be at the party tonight, I suddenly found myself more interested in attending the HYBE event than ever before.
Despite their impressive appearance, these kinds of parties can be rather dull. I had to force a smile and greet a bunch of people, including some I knew didn't particularly like me. What's worse, my stomach is sensitive, and every time I consume a lot of alcohol, it results in stomach pain.
As the clock struck 9 o'clock, the party commenced. I quickly scanned the room, looking for Haerin. She was engaged in a conversation with Hanni, and I must admit they looked great together. In other words, I wanted to be close to her, to be her bias. Why didn't that happen from the start? Should I ask Hanni for tips on becoming Kang Haerin's bias?
I found myself staring at Haerin blankly. The more I looked, the more beautiful she appeared, and the more I yearned to be with her.
I located an empty spot near Haerin and unconsciously finished my glass of wine. Glass after glass, I've never seen alcohol work so effectively in soothing my nerves.
I couldn't dare to look in Haerin's direction every time she laughed because every time I got lost in it, my heart skipped a beat.
Can you smile at me, Kang Haerin?
After contemplating for a moment, I turned my phone on and off, then glanced in Hanni's direction, but Haerin was nowhere to be seen.
Haerin's Perspective:
Hanni is such a delightful and amiable person. We chatted about work and, of course, about Danielle. It all happened naturally like colleagues getting to know one another better. I wouldn't miss any details about Danielle Marsh.
After searching for a while, I found Danielle seated on the second floor, tucked away in a hidden corner by the window overlooking the beach. She appeared deeply engrossed in thought, and the whisky before her had considerably emptied, indicating she had consumed a fair amount of alcohol. I considered stopping her; Hanni had mentioned that excessive drinking might cause Danielle stomach pain.
Strangely, this time, I didn't feel as shy or distant from Danielle. Maybe it was because I was genuinely concerned about her. What could be driving her to drink so heavily?
"Danielle, drinking more will give you a stomachache," I cautioned.
"How do you know?" Danielle asked, her face flushed.
"Hanni told me."
The two of us didn't exchange many words, merely observing each other closely. Danielle seemed to be trying to read my thoughts, to understand if I truly cared about her.
Under the influence of alcohol and the ambient lighting, Danielle leaned in and kissed Haerin on the lips. She just simply thought kissing was the most genuine way to express love, and she wanted to do it. She lightly nibbled on Haerin's lip, as if trying to savor the softness entirely or perhaps out of frustration, an intense desire for something she couldn't have. She delved into her mouth, teasing her tongue and savoring the flavor she craved. Danielle continued exploring, tracing her lips against Haerin's. She clung to her, fearing that if she let go, everything would dissipate like a sponge. It wasn't until Danielle felt a small force pushing against her shoulders that Danielle realized Haerin was attempting to break the kiss, and her eyes were sparkling as if they were on the verge of tears.
If Danielle were sober, she'd probably need to clean up the mess she had created. But at that moment, she couldn't think clearly. Her heart felt tightly constricted, and all she wanted was Haerin.
This kiss was unlike the previous one, with one significant difference: Haerin was awake. Another distinction was that Haerin actively engaged in kissing Danielle Marsh.
The dim lighting in the room shielded this corner from prying eyes. Haerin's heart raced, and her breathing grew labored. She couldn't think clearly; all she could focus on was the gentle touch of Danielle's tongue, the faint taste of wine in Danielle's mouth, and her overwhelming affection for Danielle. The emotions she had bottled up over the past year surged to the surface, and she had to release them to catch her breath.
