I was surprised to see I was the first awake, the next morning. The house was dead silent, with everyone still sleeping. I felt out of place walking around someone else's home, helping myself to breakfast, but my stomach screamed for me to eat. So I slowly tip-toed downstairs to the kitchen. I decided it would be a nice gesture to cook a big breakfast not for just myself, but for everyone.
I was happily cooking away while sipping coffee, when someone loudly cleared their throat, startling me. I stumbled almost dropping a plate of scrambled eggs. A tall dark-haired man, wearing all black stood across the kitchen staring at me. The man grinned apologetically. "Please, forgive me, Bella, I did not mean to frighten you." I could tell he was Italian, his accent was very strong. "Oh, it's alright, but I'm not Bella, I'm Lana. Who are you?"
"Bella is not a name, but a term of endearment. My name is Enzo." Enzo? Gia's friend? She didn't mention he was here.
"Oh, you're Gia's friend?"
"Yes, I see you've heard of me. I'm sorry to say but I have no heard of you. Are you a friend of Gia's as well?"
"Kind of, I'm Luca Denzel's wife." Enzo's expression changed quickly, from mischevious to something dark and cruel. He slowly walked closer towards me, with his eyes flickering from my head to my feet. It put me on edge. "W-would you like some breakfast?" Pull yourself together Lana, don't be intimidated. I told myself.
"So you are the beauty who killed Antonio." Enzo walked even closer. Soemthing told me to go along with what he was saying. It could help me appear confident, and possibly even dangerous. "Yes." I took full credit and made sure to keep eye contact with Enzo. I didn't like the way he made me feel. So I wanted to appear fearless and strong. Enzo took another step closer to me until, we were almost touching. "Because of you, Bella, I lost a two point five million dollar deal when he died." Enzo reached out and caressed my cheek. I quickly swatted it away, and shoved past him. "You'll lose a lot more if you touch me again." I warned him. I tried to storm away, but he quickly grabbed my arm, spinning me back towards him.
"We're just talking Bella, no need to get angry." The sound of a gun clicking, caused him to let go of me. Before I could turn to see who it was, an arm was around my waist pulling me backwards. "Keep your hands off of my wife." Luca growled, with a stone expression.
"Luca, old friend, no need to get angry as I was just telling your wife, we are just talking. Just socializing as friends do." Enzo smiled in a taunting way.
"I will tell you only once, do not touch my wife again." Luca's eyes burned with anger, I could tell this reaction wasn't completely about me. They had some kind of past.
"My apologies Luca, I did not mean to offend you or Lana."
"I see you're already stirring up trouble. Come on now Enzo, you just arrived, behave yourself." Niko casually walked past the three of us, and began helping himself to breakfast. "Thanks for breakfast Topino, but if you don't mind, I need to steal these two for work." Niko rubbed the top of my head like a child, while walking away with a plate of food. "Luca, put the gun away, our children are awake." Niko called over his shoulder, with a full mouth. Luca put the gun away, but didn't move. He stood there still glaring at Enzo. "It was nice to meet you Bella." Enzo flashed a bright grin at me then to Luca, before following Niko.
Once he was gone, Luca focused his attention on me. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." I shrugged it off.
"I'm sorry if he scared you. Enzo is a bit intense. He doesn't take sides when it comes to business, and he like a challenge."
"What do youmean take sides?"
"Meaning, I could kill Niko tomorrow and it wouldn't bother him, unless it affects his business. Moretti." Luca rolled his eyes.
"He's Moretti?"
"By blood yes, but he does business independently, and works for no one."
"He seemed really angry when he realized who I am. He said something about a deal I ruined with Antonio?"
"Don't worry about it, the only reason he's here is to try and get that deal restored with Niko." I looked over Luca's shoulder to see Gia headed towards us with all the kids.
"Lana, you did all of this? You are too kind, thank you." Gia smiled, while fixing the children plates of food. I grabbed a plate from the counter and handed it to Luca. Luca grinned at his plate, throwing a bite into his mouth. "You know, I could get use to this whole marriage thing." He wiggled his brows at his breakfast. "Yeah, yeah." I waved him off, giving him a small peck on the cheek. "Thank you, love. I'll find you later." He kissed my forehead, and headed off to find Niko.
