Ricky made a promise to Gyuvin. A promise he was reluctant about keeping. After boys planet, if they debut together, he would tell him something that had been bottled inside of him for a long time. That was the promise. And although Ricky really wanted to debut, and do it together with his best friend. He at the same time was scared. Scared of what gyuvin might think of him after he tells him. Tells him about his deep feelings...for him.

"Waaah, I'm beat." Gyuvin groaned and sloppily kicked his shoes off, leaving them somewhere on the floor. Ricky chuckled at his best friend. He watched him basically tear his jacket off and fly onto his bed. July 10th 2023, the day of their long awaited debut. After spending a couple of rough months in a draining survival show, they had finally debuted. And they were absolutely exhausted, but overjoyed.

"We have to eat something." He said to his worn out friend. "I'm too tired, I'll just sleep instead." To be fair, Ricky was exhausted as well, they just had their debut stags after all. But food was important.

"Without cleaning up? That's kinda nasty." Ricky took his jacket off and neatly hung it up in his closet. "Shut up, I'll do it tomorrow." Gyuvin was just about to enter sweet dreamland, when Ricky threw the jacket he had thrown on the ground on him. He quickly sat up, ready to throw hands. "Hey, I was just about to sleep!"

He barged towards Ricky and grabbed onto his shoulders, attempting to shove him on his bed for revenge. He managed to wrestle him onto the bed but of course he lost his balance and fell on top of his best friend. Ricky could have sworn he heard at least 5 bones break...okay not really. But he was basically suffocating under the weight of Gyuvin. At least his heart was...

"If you don't get off me in two seconds I will strangle you. One, two, three-" Gyuvin flew up from the bed and quickly went over to his bed. "What are you talking about? I was here the whole time!" Gyuvin shook his head in disbelief as if he was falsely accused of committing a crime. Ricky just chuckled. "Uh-huh, right."

Gyuvin finally picked his jacket up and opened his closet to hang it up. However, he stopped in his tracks. "Ah! Right!" He exclaimed, kind of scaring Ricky. "What? Did something happen? Did you forget something?"

He lowkey got worried and walked over to Gyuvin. "No, but you did." Ricky furrowed his brows and stared at his friend. "Huh? What do you mean?" He asked. "Seriously, you forgot?"

"Forgot what?! Is it Eumppappa's birthday or something?" Gyuvin playfully rolled his eyes and put his jacket down. "No, your promise! Don't you remember? Before boys planet you were supposed to tell me something "really important", but then you said, nah nevermind I'll tell you if we debut together. Seriously you were SO annoying." Ricky froze in place. He didn't think Gyuvin remembered that. And he most definitely didn't think he would take it seriously.

"So now that we've debuted, you have to tell me, or else you have to wash the dishes for three months." Ricky couldn't move a muscle. He could feel his body getting tense and sweat starting to form in his palms.

How could he tell him? Yes, it was a promise, and Ricky is a very honest person who does not like breaking promises. But this...this was, different. This one promises could actually ruin things. Like Gyuvin and his friendship, or even zerobaseone.

At the time, before they went on boys planet, Ricky wasn't very confident that he would debut, so he made a stupid promise, thinking he wouldn't have to tell him.

As time went on and both Ricky and Gyuvin made it to the finals, he forgot about the promise and just focused on making his dream come true. But now, he was facing the one thing he hoped he wouldn't have to face. What was he supposed to do? He can't tell him, there's no way.

Ricky gulped and decided to just play dumb. "What promise?" Gyuvin chuckled and hit him playfully on his shoulder. "Ey, don't be like that, you've got to remember. You know,
before boys planet?"

"Ah! That? Yeah I said that just for fun I guess, think of it as a way so that you would be motivated to debut, you should thank me." Ricky chuckled to make it not seem like a big deal, hoping that Gyuvin would buy it. But Gyuvin could probably tell that this was a lie. Ricky's face had gotten unaturally pale and sweat was glistening on his forehead. Gyuvin suddenly looked at Ricky with a very serious face.

"Ricky, if there's anything you want to tell me, then please do it. I don't want there to be anything weighing you down, or anything that might be in the way of our friendship. I'm your best friend, I promise that no matter what it is, nothing will change between us, okay?"

Ricky felt his mouth get dry and thickly swallowed. For some reason he nodded. He wasn't sure why. Gyuvin grabbed Ricky's shoulder and they sat down on his bed. "Could you tell me?" He said in a soft tone.

Ricky had never seen Gyuvin this serious before. The two of them were always joking around with each other. They very rarely had serious conversations. And if they did had a serious talk, it would be done in a much lighter way. Usually with some kind kind of satire mixed in to not make the air to thick. But now, the air was making it suffocating for Ricky.

The blonde stayed silent for a couple of seconds, staring down at his clutched hands. He eventually took a deep breath. He knew he couldn't escape this. It would just come right back to him, but in an even more difficult way.

"Do you...do you remember the day we went to see that waterfall three days before boys planet? Where I told you about the promise?" Gyuvin nodded. "Of course I do, I almost fell into the water." They both chuckled, but things quickly went back to being tense. "I taught you how to say something in chinese, remember?" Ricky glanced up at Gyuvin.

"Yeah, but I don't remember what it was." He scratched the back of his head and gave him an innocent smile. Ricky fondly smiled and looked back at his hands.

"Wǒ xiǎng hé nǐ zài yīqǐ. That's what I said." (A/N: I'm so sorry if this is incorrect😭) He paused for a second and hesitated a little. "I never told you what it meant, do you know?" Gyuvin shook his head. "Not all of it, something that has to do with you and I, right?" Ricky slightly bit his lower lip and nodded.

"Mhm, do you want to know?"
