"Mhm, do you want to know?"
"Uh, sure...but what does this have to do with your promise?" Gyuvin furrowed his eyebrows and blinked at Ricky with his big eyes.
Ricky had always thought he was handsome. Although he and Gyuvin always joke around and call each other ugly, Ricky obviously never means it. Gyuvin is very good looking. He's tall, has a small face, large eyes, a nice lean physique, broad shoulders, soft hair, a sweet smile, the list goes on.
"So, what does it mean?" Ricky weakly smiled and locked eyes with the brunette. A stupid promise he made had now come to light and Ricky felt like he could pass out any moment.
"I want to be with you." There, he said it. The thing he promised he would tell Gyuvin. "What?" The brunette stared straight into his eyes. Right in that moment, Ricky could have sworn everything froze around them. It was so quiet. All he could hear was his heartbeat pounding in his chest.
When Gyuvin didn't say anything else after that, Ricky knew he couldn't keep sitting there. He felt like the air was suffocating him. His mouth became drier by the second and a lump started forming in his throat.
As soon as he felt tears starting to prickle his eyes he quickly got up and attempted to leave the room. But before he could even take a step forward he felt his hand being grabbed and Gyuvin stood up facing him.
"What do you mean?" He said, and at this point Ricky couldn't hold back his tears. He let them run down his cheeks and looked down. Too ashamed to even face the other.
"Ricky, please look at me." Gyuvin placed his hands on either sides of Ricky's face. The blonde tightly put his hands on top of the others, not wanting to look up. He quietly sobbed, before finally looking up.
His sobs abruptly stopped when he saw Gyuvin. Tears had formed in his eyes and he looked, worried? Ricky couldn't exactly pin point it. But there was some kind of pained expression on his face.
"Ricky, I want you to be honest with me." Gyuvin took his hands off from Ricky tear stained face and gripped onto his hands instead. "Do you have feelings for me?"
Ricky lost it. He couldn't face Gyuvin anymore, he felt humiliated by this one simple question. But it was the question he had feared this whole time.
He ripped his hands away and ran outside their room, quickly put his slippers on and dashed outside of the dorm. He could hear Gyuvin yelling for him, but he couldn't look back. He felt like he had just comitted the biggest sin of his life. What if he had just ruined their whole career as idols? How could he possibly face Gyuvin after confessing his love for him?
After running down the stairs he flung the door open and stepped outside. Into the dark, warm summer night. He felt like he couldn't stop. So he just kept running. Running to somewhere. Somewhere Gyuvin wasn't. Somewhere he could escape this, even if it was just for a moment.
He ran, and ran, until he eventually reached a point where he could barely breath. He gasped for air as he sat down on a bench next to him and buried his face in his hands.
His heart was almost beating out of his chest and sweat ran down his back. The panic was still there but now it was more of a small lingering inside of him. Running might have been tiring, but it surely calmed him down. Unfortunately just for a moment.
"Ricky!" His head snapped back to see that the owner of the voice was Gyuvin. He was running towards him, so as if it was some kind of instinct, he got up and tried running away.
"Ricky, please wait!" Gyuvin tightly grabbed onto the other's shirt and turned him around, making sure he didn't have the chance to run away again. They caught their breath for a little moment, staring into each other's eyes.
"Ricky, I-" "Stop, I don't want to hear you say it. I knew this wasn't a good idea, I should have just stayed silent."
"Ricky please calm down-" "I knew all along it would end up like this. I knew when I promised you back then that it was stupid, and to be honest I didn't think you would remember. Hell, I didn't even think we would debut together." Tears began fighting its way out of Ricky's eyes.
"I knew you would never look at me the way that I look at you. I...I like you, Kim Gyuvin!" Ricky yelled out. He panted, still catching his breath and stared into Gyuvins eyes. He felt the other ever so gently place his hand on his cheek and wipe away a tear rolling down.
"You're quite fast at running, but you're even faster at making assumptions, Shen Ricky." Ricky slowly blinked at Gyuvin, trying to understand what he was saying.
Just as he was about to question him, Gyuvin had already pulled the other closer to him and pressed his lips against his. For a moment Ricky was standing frozen. But after getting one taste of his lips, he couldn't help but melt under his touch and kiss back, with twice as much emotion. They parted and breathlessly stared into each other's eyes. They both couldn't help but chuckle at each other's tearful expressions.
"I've wanted to kiss you for so long now, I didn't realize you were just as scared to confess as I was." Gyuvin confessed and Ricky looked at him with a stunned expression. The brunette tightly held the others hands close to him.
"Ricky, I want to be with you too, for a long time." Ricky finally smiled, a big genuine smile and swung his arms around Gyuvin. He let himself be embraced in a serious and affectionate hug for probably the first time of them knowing each other. Tears of relief and happiness streamed down his cheeks, staining Gyuvins shirt.
"I want to be with you all the time, Ricky, I want to be special to you, do you accept?" He asked and gently patted the back of his head. Ricky immediately looked up and nodded.
"Use your voice Ricky, I want to hear you say it." Ricky suddenly felt embarrassed and pulled away from Gyuvin. Now that this was actually happening, he was feeling a little flustered. "I- I accept..." He quietly said and turned his body around. "Hm? What was that? I couldn't hear you."
Ricky's face heated up and he felt all tingly inside of him. "I accept." He repeated, a little louder this time, but still facing away from the other. "I still can't hear you, you gotta be louder, or else I'm leaving."
"No!" Ricky spun around and grabbed onto Gyuvin's arm. "I accept! Don't.. go..." He quickly felt embarrassed and hid his face in his hands. Gyuvin, feeling very pleased smile and laughed.
"Should we go back? I still haven't hung my jacket up.." Gyuvin said and Ricky laughed. "Mhm, let's go." And so they walked hand in hand back inside, feeling giddy inside from the new emotions.
Gyuvin had Ricky, and Ricky had Gyuvin. They both had each other, just as they both hoped for. Maybe that promise wasn't too bad after all.
