Javier's POV
"I'm sleepy." Breo says adorably as she yawns, turning to me as I put the keys in the apartment door.
"Yeah?" I respond, only to see her yawn again, covering mouth with her hand shyly.
"It was a fun walk though!" We've been on walks a few times a week to help build up the strength in her leg. At first she was apprehensive but I can tell they've grown on her.
I adjust her headphones, pushing them forwards a little as they slip back, making sure they don't tug on her hair.
"Want me to hold them?" I offer, knowing she won't need them for noise cancelling now that we're home. I looked up some more stuff on autism and noticed she might be sensitive to sound after our visit visit to the zoo, so I got her a pair.
She nods, smiling at me intently as I help take them off of her head.
Pausing take a deep breath I look at the keys in the lock, realising she's probably wondering why I'm taking so long to open the door.
"Bre?"
"Mhm?"
"You know I love you right?"
The word 'love' barely passes through my lips before sending her into a fit of nervous giggles, she still gets so excited every time I tell her, it's cute.
"Yes, I love you too." She responds assuredly, covering her mouth slightly to hide her smile.
"Well there's something I want to tell you, but please know you don't have to do anything you don't want to do." I reassure her, meaning every word of it. She looks at me in a confused manner. nodding in response as I finally open the door, hoping Pedro's dumbass did everything right.
Waiting for her to enter I watch her take off her shoes, gasping as she turns to see the various green heart and star shaped balloons spread across the living room. The walls are covered in matching streamers too, I wanted to go all out.
"Oh my goodness!" She gasps, almost sprinting towards one of the balloons, poking it to watch it bob up and down gently. I try to focus on how adorable she is as a distraction but my heart is still pounding in my chest. I need to man the fuck up and get over these nerves before I ruin this for her.
"You gotta close your eyes for me, okay baby?" I instruct before watching her close her eyes tightly, covering her face with her hands too.
Making my way to the jacket closet I open the door slowly, letting out a breath of relief when I see everything is in place. I carefully grab the large bouquet of glitter covered yellow and red roses, arranged in the shape of Winnie the Pooh. Adjusting the small jewellery box in the centre before walking towards her slowly.
I use my free hand to pull Bre's hands away from her face, seeing her eyes still tightly shut.
"You can open them now gorgeous." I say with a small laugh, fuck she's so beautiful.
Opening her eyes slowly I watch her vision adjust, seeing her gasp again at the bouquet in my hand.
"Oh my goodness Javi it's pooh bear!" She exclaims, wriggling around in excitement before hugging me tightly. "Thank you!"
Barely being able to concentrate over the sound of my heart beating in my ears and I decide to just go for it.
"Bre, I love you."
"I love you." She says with another giggle, glancing up at me softly as I look into her gorgeous eyes.
"I'm gonna ask you something okay? And I promise you don't have to say yes. I'm always gonna be here for you- I pinkie promise." I reassure her again, trying to ease any nerves while subconsciously trying to ease mine.
