Chapter Five

You stared at him as he waited for your reply. 

"Y/n?" He called your name. 

"Oh. Yeah?" You said, clearly shocked by what he just said. 

Joonghyuk chuckled. "That was kind of rude, i guess so, let me rephrase that." He stood up straight and look deeply in your eyes. "Can I court you, Y/n?" 

You mouth fell open. So, you weren't just hearing things. 

"But.. you hated me." You said as you point your finger at him. 

Joonghyuk tilt his head. "I did?" His voice sounds confused and curious. 

You dropped your hand. "Well.. maybe not?" 

Joonghyuk laughed at you. "I'll court you."

You look deeply into his eyes, seeking for something. After a minute, you sighed and nodded your head. Maybe you can give this a chance. You look at the ground. But he's your rival? What will happen to the both of you now? What if this will distract you from focusing on your studies?

"Penny for your thoughts?" You snapped out from your thoughts when you heard his voice. 

You shook your head. "It's nothing."

"It sure doesn't look like it's nothing. Come on, I'll listen."

You sighed as you look at his face. "I just thought what will happen to us from now on." Your heart keeps on beating faster. "What if I'll get distracted? What if my pride will ruin us?"

Joonghyuk stared at your for a moment before he spoke. "None of that will happen. I'll assure you that this won't distract you. I'll help you with your studies, lessen your burden by giving some of it to me. And what do you mean by your pride will ruin us?" He smiled softly. "Nothing will change with our rival relationship. You can continue competing with me, you can continue shoving your scores in my face."

You sighed. "I'm just scared. What if this cost us our friendship?"

"I've thought about that too. But Y/n.." Joonghyuk's faced looks sincere and genuine than ever. "You're worth the risk. I can't live with the regrets, what ifs and what could've been. I thought that there's nothing wrong with trying.. with risking."

"I hate to lose my chance with you."

Students' chatter everywhere. Students' busy dealing their own problems. But there's two people who can't get their eyes off each other. Eyes filled with affection and love. A love that is not scared to show, where they can show it off to people. A love that you'll know they took the risk. 

Will the risk be worthy or will it be crumbled down and filled with deepest regrets?
