How you remind me

Having Akali in her arms was simultaneously a blessing and a curse. Being completely intoxicated as Kai'sa was with her bandmate, seemingly physically drawn into the blonde's warmth, was a sufficient explanation for why she considered it a blessing. Yet, the dark-haired woman would want to be so much more – a pillar for Akali to rely on and someone she could approach without a mask. But ... this hopeful idea was far from reality, as yesterday's video call proved. The lead dancer tried to imagine what her friend ... or maybe lover was going through, but it was seemingly a fruitless endeavour. The blonde needed her to be close when she was the most vulnerable, yet she did not open up, spilling what ideas wrecked her mind. Perhaps it was only a problematic matter due to Kai'sa's passivity? She valued Akali's trust too much to risk it slipping between her fingertips.

Before the dreamer even noticed, the night receded, making a place for the bright sun rays. One of these pesky beams passed through the blinders and found its way towards the dark-haired woman's face. Feeling its warmth spanning across her cheek, Kai'sa turned around, trying to sleep for a few more minutes, yet in the end, it was in vain effort. Painfully slowly, she was sucked out of her dreams' domain, stirring back into reality. She groaned loudly, announcing her dissatisfaction, but regardless of her feelings, she sat up, stretching a tad. Then, she realised two things. She woke up covered with a warm blanket, a minor detail she could hardly remember bringing here in the first place. Yet, the same could not be said about the second matter. The absence of the vivid blonde-haired woman beside her was a much more pressing matter. Panicking a little, the dark-haired dancer virtually jumped off the couch, pressingly looking for her mobile.

A few minutes of clumsy endeavour later, the said piece of technology was found in a somewhat surprising place, lying underneath the corridor's carpet. There were many questions Kai'sa would want to ask, but they all palled compared to the need to know where her dear bandmate was. However, this puzzle's solution was granted when she unlocked her phone.

Good morning, sleepyhead 😊

You looked so cute and content, so I had no heart to wake you up. However, Rex became vocal about going for a walk. So ... I am taking him for a long one. If you are still sleeping when I am back, I will prepare some food for us.

Your Kali

Reading this vague information caused a broad smile to creep its way in. Oh, how she missed that girl. However, it would be worth mentioning that Akali had changed a lot, not only physically, but she also had matured, though Kai'sa adored these changes. Like a proud mum – like the white-haired liked to tease her – she was so excited and giddy regarding Akali's progress, no matter how small it was.

Not knowing when her bandmate precisely had left, the lead dancer decided to make some breakfast. After all, she loved cooking, not to mention her stomach started burping, loudly announcing its discontent with the woman's decisions. If someone were in the apartment, she would have inevitably gone red as a ripe tomato, embarrassed with the situation. Thankfully, that was not the case. Hence, wanting or not, she moved to the kitchen, seemingly absentmindedly going back and forth whilst preparing something simple yet filling to eat. Even though her movement was a tad robotic, it preserved its grace, yet the same could not be said about the woman's mind. She was worried about what would happen when Ahri and Evelynn return. She would love to be optimistic regarding this matter, yet it would be foolish. As she had reminded Akali, the problem between the rapper and the diva would not resolve itself. And ... considering the past events, Kai'sa could not foresee an easy way to deal with it. After all, it had taken Akali a whole year to return, trying to forego the painful experience.
