I arrived at Nevermore later into the evening, the bus driver told me that everyone was already in their dorms settling in for the night. The principal was there waiting for me when I got off. He was telling me all about Nevermore and how crazy last semester was and how he was the new principal since the previous one unfortunately passed away. He was going on about the history and the students, a monster type called a Hyde and how a girl named Wednesday Addams saved the school and solved the cases of the murders last semester and put the Hyde away in prison. He told me that Wednesday chose not to come back for reasons unknown. A few more minutes go by, and he took me to a dorm in Ophelia Hall. No one else was in it meaning I got it all to myself, he told me it was a request from my mother.

"Ya know, your mother called and told me about your 'condition' as she put it. Your pills dosage has been upped and you are required to take them more frequently, three times a day with food, then as needed. You have a dorm to yourself, and your stuff has already been moved in here." the bus driver or something must have brought it up here while the principal was talking to me and showing me around. He continued "Please feel free to find me if you have any questions and concerns. We are all family here at Nevermore and no one feels excluded. Also feel free to explore, you do have a curfew but this not being your official first day, I am allowing you to go roam free before bed. There are a few rules however, trips into Jericho are a privilege and are earned, you are given one trip at the beginning of every semester but then any more after that are earned. No loud music after 7:30 and lastly no boys in the girl dorms and no girls in the boy dorms." He smiles as I look at him blankly, I haven't said a single word ever since I stepped on to the bus back at home. I give him a simple nod and he walks towards my door. "Well then if you have no questions, I shall leave you to get settled in. Good night, Ivory, oops sorry Ivy." He walks away, closing my door. I look around at my massive dorm and then at the suitcases and boxes, I can't help but collapse onto the floor, bursting into tears. My flames engulf me but thankfully, they don't spread anywhere else. When they finally die down and I stop crying, I head over to the bare bed and lay down on it deciding to just go to sleep to hopefully wake up and see this is all a dream and I'll be back in my bed smelling my mom cook bacon.

The next morning, I wake up to my phone alarm. It was 7:30, I get up and open my one of my suitcases, pulling out some clothes. I eventually decide on a black tank top, some oversized black ripped jeans, my converse, and a dark purple crop top. That's when I turn around and see the blue and black striped uniform laying on the floor in front of my door. Great, this is one of those boarding schools with a uniform, but at least it's in some nice colors and looks decently comfy. I put on the uniform, not liking how it was one of those that was made to "hug a woman's natural figure" or some bullshit like that. I will admit, it did look nice, and the blue made my eyes pop, which were also blue. I put my black hair over my ears and do a small bit of eyeliner before grabbing my bag and leaving my dorm, looking at my schedule. After about an hour of searching, I make it to my first class which somehow didn't start yet. I walk into the room, looking at all the students who were looking at me, I got uncomfortable and quickly looked for an empty seat. I didn't see any in the back, so I'm forced to sit around the middle of the room.

I sit down next to this girl who had short blonde hair with pink and blue ends at the front. I do my best not to look at her and just face front. She seemed nice but I didn't want to risk making friends with people in case of a flare up, I also just wanted to get through however long I was going to stay here then go home. The class starts and I can tell this girl was trying to make small talk with me making small comments about the lecture. I didn't respond though, a part of me felt bad but another part of me didn't. The class ended and I started to pack up my things when the girl eventually spoke to me, a huge smile on her face.

"Hey! you must be the new girl that came last night. I'm Enid, Enid Sinclair. What's your name?" She opened up her arms and without my permission, gave me a hug. I hugged back, looking at her with the same blank stare I gave the principal. "Not much of a talker? or are you mute? Ya know, we actually do have a student who's mute. Conversations with her are usually pretty short." "Ivy. Ivy Law." "Well nice to meet you Ivy, welcome to Nevermore, you are going to love it here. " "That's what everyone's been telling me."

Me and Enid continue talking when we walk out into the quad. There she introduces me to the different kinds of students at Nevermore, walking me around and having me say hi to everyone. Eventually, we walk up to this boy who's drawing at a table alone. "Ivy, meet Xavier Thorpe, the schools very talented, yet tortured artist. He's a psychic, a rare breed of outcast. He can make his art come to life." Xavier looks up from his sketchbook, closing it. "Enid, you didn't tell me you were doing show and tell today." "In my defense Xavier, I didn't either until I met Ivy today. Well, I'll leave you two to talk, Ajax is blowing up my phone." She leaves, leaving me and this boy alone we make eye contact for a few seconds before he leans back a bit, crossing his arms. "Well, don't be a stranger, sit down. I don't bite." I hesitantly sit down across from him, looking around at the surroundings taking all of this in. "I know it looks overwhelming and a bit of a maze, but I promise you once you learn your way around here, it's really easy to navigate." He says to me, giving me this cocky smirk. I sigh a bit, twiddling with my thumbs. "Uh. Yea it's a..pretty big school. Definitely bigger than my last one." I mutter out, my voice barely above a whisper, I'm usually not this shy, but considering all I went through in less than 24 hours, I let it happen.

"So, what's your story and what brought you too Nevermore?" He bit his lip a bit, looking at me. I can tell he's trying to intimidate me but not at the same time. "I was born with pyrokinesis, I'm supposed to be able to control fire, but I can't. Mom is afraid of me, dad hates me. Accidentally killed the fucking principal's son of all people at my last school all because he hit me in the head with a dodgeball and pulled my hair. So, that's why I'm here." Xavier looked at me, his eyes were wide with shock, he scoffs. "Damn, so all the rumors I'm hearing are true. We have a murderer at Nevermore." Jeez, people I haven't even been here a day and you guys are already talking shit. "I-I'm not a....m-murderer, ok? It-It was an accident...I..I didn't want to kill him..." I look down at my feet, ashamed of myself. A few moments of silence go on and Xavier finally says something. "Then what happened?" "It was dodgeball day in P.E. I hate dodgeball with a passion, so I stood behind everyone else who was playing. That's when Gavin, my bully throws a ball at my head. I go to walk outside because I felt a flare up coming and that's when he grabbed my hair. Next thing I knew I was looking at a completely burned and melted Gavin on the gym floor, the principal yelling at me. I blacked out between that because my flare ups cause my flames to engulf me...or sometimes explode from me and destroy and kill anything in its way." "Flare ups? What are those?" "It's when whatever negative emotion I'm feeling gets too strong and my flame goes haywire. They take over and I can't control them."

Me and Xavier talk for some time. He eventually gets up, his things in his hand. "Well, Ivy the not murderer, it was nice meeting you, but I have somewhere I gotta be. Maybe you want to clear up the air to the other students, including Enid. Don't any official bad first impressions." He goes and leaves and I stand up to leave as well. As I get up, I notice a small piece of paper on the table. I pick it up and unfold it, it's a phone number.

Did this art fart really give me his phone number? Slow your roll man we haven't even made it to the friend zone.
