Edward's POV:

"Do you think squirrels and rats could ever work out? I mean, they're two totally different species." Alder asks while looking at the ferrets with me.

"Oh, yeah. I mean, totally. Why not?" I say gazing into her honeyed eyes. "They have more in common than you think. Most people are scared of them, so it would just be us... them... against the world." I say smiling at her. Why, oh why do I have to be so awkward?

"Wow." She smiles at me. "That was... deep."

I look away embarrassed. "You know," she starts again, "by the way, I totally dug the way you scratched out the bottom of that boat at Poe Cup. It was pretty cool." She says smiling.

"Thanks." I say smiling, "I like that you're (y/n)'s roomate. It gives me a chance to get to know you better." I say with a wink.

"Do you realize this is, like, the longest conversation we've ever had?" She asks baffled.

"I never thought you wanted to talk to me... so I never tried," I say defeatedly.

"Gorgons are taught not to engage. You know, I don't want to accidentally stone someone." She says looking down, as if she was embarrassed.

I put my finger under her chin and raise her face so I can look into those eyes I adore so much

"I'm not afraid of being stoned by you." I whisper near her lips.

"Really?" She asks breathlessly, "Do you mean that?"

"One hundo!" I say smiling at her. This is my chance to ask her on a date, I go for it.

"So, um, I was thinking of sneaking behind the greenhouse tonight. Supposed to be a blue moon. Only happens once every 23 years or something crazy. Should get a killer view from there." I say stepping back from her a bit.

"Oh. Cool. Hey, have fun." She says looking down again and then back up in alarm. "You know that's where a lot of kids go to hook up, right? I mean, it could get awkward." She says shrugging her shoulders.

"Alder! I just spent all morning flirting and hinting and trying to act cute while brushing some roadkill just so you would say yes when I asked you on a date!" I say desperately.

"Oh!" She giggles, "Oh! That's what you were doing. I kind of wondered when you spent so long brushing that opossum's tail." We both chuckle. I move towards her and push her adorable beanie behind her ear.

"So, do you want to meet up behind the greenhouse tonight?" I say smiling at her.

"Yes. Yes, I do." She says smiling at me. I want to lean in, especially when she looks at my lips. I begin to move towards seeher lips when we hear,

"Edward! Can you help me move the badger dentist to the front window?" The lady we volunteer for says.

I chuckle as reply yes, but before I go I kiss her cheek.

"Yes! I can't believe she said yes!" I say to myself as I help the lady.

Wednesday's POV:

"I thought you were supposed to be at Pilgrim World," Xaviera says as I walk into the Weathervane.

"I deserted it while my sanity was still intact."

"Oh yeah? You want a coffee? It's one of the many perks of this wonderful assignment." She says flirtingly.

I look over and notice my angel glaring daggers at the dirty blonde girl. I smirk and lean down to whisper to her, just to make my love flare her nostrils even more. Shes adorable.
