It should have all been fine.
Good, even.
No biggie . .. really. But unfortunately, someone spotted them.
"It's the Bad Guys!" yelled a voice from the crowd.
Other people noticed them and began to point and scream.
Wolf knew it was time to hit it.
"Better get a move on it, Wolfie," Snake said.
As they zipped past the Santa that was being guided through the streets, Wolf accidentally swerved a little too close to the balloon.
Wolf could totally have avoided the problem ... if
only that one balloon handler hadn't decided to jump out of the way.But when that handler did jump out of the way, that's when one of the balloon ropes got tangled up in the Bad Guys' getaway car.
As Wolf sped away from the scene, the rest of Santa's ropes got pulled out of the other balloon handlers' hands as well.
And now the giant Santa balloon was cruising down the street high above Wolf and his pals, attached to the bumper of the Bad Guys' getaway car.
This was definitely not part of their plan.
"I think we just stole Santa?" Shark said.
"This was not part of our plan" wolf says to princess.
"Niiiice," Webs muttered.
"The Bad Guys are stealing Big Nick!" someone screamed. "Help! Somebody stop them!"
"That's not very good,? Wolf said, looking up from the inside of the convertible, scoping out their new passenger high up in the sky.
Stealing the Santa balloon had definitely not been on today's to-do list.
And the big guy didnt look very jolly to be along for the ride.
"Uh... this isn't that famous balloon everybody is freakishly emotionally attached to, is it?" Piranha asked, even though he kind of already knew the answer to his own question.
This was obviously the same Santa balloon. It's not like there were a bunch of other giant Santa balloons floating around downtown on the day before Christmas.
"No," Snake said with a roll of his eyes. "This is a different giant Santa-shaped balloon."
Piranha sagged with relief.
Snake glared at him and said, "Of course it is!"
He leaned out of the car's window to try to untangle the ropes stuck in their car bumper. But the ropes were really stuck.Wolf slammed his foot on the gas, swerving wildly to try to shake the balloon loose.
But nothing worked to set Santa free. Instead, Wolf's crazy driving just bopped the giant balloon around in the air, causing Santa to bounce to and fro between the city's tall buildings.
Parade-goers screamed as Wolf careened around the corner and sent Santa slamming into a giant building.
Then another. And another. Santa slammed from side to side, then flew high up into the air--dragging the back of the Bad Guy mobile up into the air along with him. Seconds later, the car crashed back down, yanking Santa along with it.
Big Nick slammed down on top of Wolf's car, smothering the Bad Guys under the giant balloon.
"I can't see!" Wolf yelped.
"Get it offa me!" Snake wailed.
"Ew," Shark whined. "I'm touching Santa's eyeball!"
"Who turned out the lights?" Webs yelped.
"Can we keep him?" Piranha begged.
Wolf shook off the balloon just enough that he could see the road ahead of him.
He spotted a streetlight up ahead, and that's when he got an idea for how to fix their current problem.
He slammed his foot down on the accelerator, bringing the car up to max speed.
As they zipped past the traffic light, one of the balloon's ropes snagged the pole.
Wolf nudged the gas a little more, and as they raced away, the Santa balloon was finally tugged
loose."Ha!" Wolf whooped. "See ya, Santa!"
If they'd stuck around, they would have seen what happened next with their own eyes.
But in their rush to get away, the Bad Guys missed all the drama that came next.
The broken streetlight suddenly began to spark.
Wires fizzled. And then, moments after the Bad Guys car swerved and squealed away around the corner, the giant Santa balloon went up in flames."You killed Santa Claus?" Princess was horrified wolf saw the fear on her face.
"Well not technically honey, it was a balloon Santa Claus not the real Santa"
"Well I'm sure you didn't mean it" princess says.
"No it was an accident, but no one saw it that way"
"Was everyone upset at you for what you did"
"Something like that, they were sad by what we done"
"They didn't think it was an accident"
"They thought we did it on purpose to ruin everyone's Christmas"
