As soon as my soles of my worn out converses hit the pavement, I was met with four pair of eyes sizing me up. Trying to shrug off how uncomfortable I felt, I closed the car's door with a noticeable thud. Four pairs of eyebrows silently went up in question and I internally winced at the loudness. Stepping away from the curb I stopped around the edge of the perimeter of the group, who apparently liked circles.
"Hello, I'm Abrielle," I awkwardly told them, wanting to break the silence. Mentally I face-palmed myself, of course they knew who I was.
The one on the far right, closest to my cousin, mouth quirked up in obvious amusement. Her hair was a bleached blond with dark roots, and curled slightly at the ends, resembling casual beach waves. Her blue eyes were sharp and seemed to sparkle in the little light that the sun dished out in mid- Feb. Her face was heart shaped and her cheekbone structure was something models would die and starve for. Her hot pink lips contrasted nicely with her pale skin, which might be because of the sun's lack of involvement. Generally speaking, she was gorgeous, an absolute angel.
"Well aren't you the cutest thing," she crooned, while taping her pink diamond-studded nails on her phone case, her voice silky and honeyed, "I'm Haley Adams."
Her eyes scrutinized my appearance from top to bottom, briefly stopping at my shoes and when she met my eyes again, her eyes smiled in unspoken hilarity. Narrowing my eyes, I was appalled by the utter nerve. Making a conscious effort, I straightened my back, threw my head back, stood with both feet on equal standing and uncrossed my arms from my chest.
Playing the game I thought she started, I graciously accepted her welcome and introduction, "Nice to meet you, Haley." I coyly smiled, looking down my nose at her, as one would a servant.
"Hm," she replied, in an almost-satisfied tone, her face still smiling with her dazzling teeth on display.
She might have looked like an angel, or even an ice princess, but looks could be deceiving. She wore all-white. Her top half was covered by a white cashmere sweater, a white winter coat with fur trimmings at the top and bottom, ending around the back of her knees, with a long diamond beaded necklace. Her lower half was clothed in white skinny jeans tucked into fur-covered knee-high boots. As I swerved my head to look at everyone in the group, I secretly wished dirty slush would end up on her immaculate outfit.
Looking over the group at a glance I saw all blondes at first, but then a flash of brown hair echoed in my peripheral vision. To the left of me, almost hidden behind a member of the blond trio, was someone I hadn't accounted for.
Unlike Ice Princess over there, she had a subtle, but very there beauty about her. Looking her over, I was able to notice her slightly- wavy brown hair dance with the wind. Her green eyes sparkled like Haley's, but more fainter and softer. Her slight frame seemed to make her a 5'2 or 3' to my 5'6 or 7'. Her face was a cross between oval and heart shaped, while her pink lips puckered into a cupid's bow. As I wondered exactly why I didn't see her at first, she lightly gave me a smile, letting me know I was staring.
Briefly letting my guard down, I smiled a genuine smile. Before I could question myself further on exactly where she fit in at, a throat was loudly and impatiently cleared.
With feet tapping, the girl in the middle briskly told me, "It is cold as hell, so let ME make introductions," she briskly demanded, "that's Lauren, " she told me, pointing to another blonde who immediately enthusiastically waved, "that's Rosanna," she pointed to the girl I was just staring at, "and finally, I am Frankie." She pointed to herself.
