[An:/ So hey guys, I took a long break, but I am here finally. My hands hurt from taking so many exams this past week. Sorry for the filler chapter, but I plan on making the next chapter a bit more exciting. This draft is really horrible, and I don't feel like going over it, so sorry guys! Hope you enjoy it.]
I woke up to light streaming into two windows on my left and right. Yawning, I set up and raised my hands above my head, stretching.
"Mm," I spoke aloud to the empty room.
With clear and bright eyes, I was successfully able to see the extent of my uncle's hospitality. The windows surrounding the bed were huge, draped in some type of luxurious, thick curtain. Without even touching the curtains, I just knew it would be soft. It even had a sitting area, making it perfect for studying. Looking around some more I was able to see that there was even another room. It was to my left, past the window. Three carpeted steps went down into the room. It looked as big as my old bedroom back home. A small window and a purple couch were in my line of view.
As I saw yesterday, there were three doors. I wistfully hoped one of them led to a bathroom. As much as I wanted to explore my new room, my bladder could not wait.
Swinging my legs off the side of the bed, my feet made contact with the softest material my feet had ever been graced to touch. Standing up, my eyes nearly rolled to the back of my head. Breathing in deep, I took tentative steps. Carpet should not feel like you're walking on heaven's cloud. I squished the light brown carpet between my toes.
Sighing, I noticed I was by a door. Gone was the awe of the carpet, my bladder needs came back full-force. I turned the brass knob and prayed that it featured a toilet. It swung open and all I was saw were hangers swinging with the draft I just produced. Looking in, I saw that it was a massive walk in closet. It even had lounge couches. Before I peed on the luxurious carpet, I quickly shut the door, went a couple feet to my left, and went to that door.
Opening it, I quickly rushed in and paid no mind to the accommodations. Sighing, I relieved myself of a most basic need. Washing my hands, I looked around the bathroom with its tile floors and high lightning. The counter was black and the sink featured a high faucet with a creamy white texture.
There was a shower by itself with gleaming black tiles separated by an off-white glass door. The tub looked claw-footed and featured what seemed like jets. As I moved closer the shower seemed that way too.
Before, I could finish exploring I heard a knock on the door. Frowning, I twisted my neck backward and looked out the window facing the door, with its fluttering black curtains. I could clearly see it wasn't even fully light out yet. Was it really necessary to wake me up so early?
Sighing, I dried my hands on the towel on the rack by the door. The knocking on my door didn't quiet down even as I opened the door and walked out.
Huffing, I made my way to the door, smoothed my hair down, and opened the door. When I was greeted by a familiar face, I huffed again.
"Ugh, what do YOU want?"
"Now Abrielle, don't get snappy with me, young lady," said Ms. Rivers in her preppy condescending way, "I was just thinking that I'll say bye."
With that, I stood up straighter on the door and really looked at Ms. Rivers. Her eccentric style was muted today, most likely the result of her meeting my family. She wore black trousers, a gray infinity scarf, with a button-up white shirt. Her clothes seemed fine, but her face was another thing altogether. There were dark circles and bags under her eyes, her usually high cheekbones seemed sunk in, and she just lacked her normal flair. Looking at her, I was mad at how self-absorbed I was. She was clearly tired, and my attitude probably haven't helped. Such is the life of a social worker, I guessed.
