The days rolled into weeks, and the cousins continued to express their feelings through their respective arts. Alex's music room was filled with tunes of longing and love, while Ashley's poetry book brimmed with verses about a love that dared not speak its name.

One day, as fate would have it, Ashley stumbled upon one of Alex's compositions left carelessly on his desk during a family gathering. The notes seemed to dance off the page as she read them - they were beautiful and heartbreaking at once. She could feel each emotion he had poured into this piece; it was like reading an open letter from his heart.

Simultaneously, in another part of the apartment, Alex found himself leafing through Ashley's poetry book that she'd accidentally left behind. His heart pounded in his chest as he read her words - they mirrored his feelings so perfectly that it felt like she had taken a peek inside his soul.

Their hearts recognized what their minds had been denying for so long - they were in love with each other. But fear gripped them both; fear of society's judgment and family disapproval held them back from confessing these newfound revelations to each other.

As night fell over New York City again, both teenagers lay awake in their rooms wrestling with their emotions - torn between societal norms and the undeniable pull towards each other.
