"So, señor octopus wants to know if you're better at karate then you are at mini golf,"

It was a Friday night and Griffin Campbell was on a date with his crush Harper Dunn. Well technically it was a hangout to her but for him? It was definitely a date. And a a good one! He had to owe it all to his sensei for giving him the courage to ask her out.

After a fun day at the arcade with playing mini golf and winning tickets to get Harper a huge red octopus, they were now sitting side by side on a bench, eating a sandwich.

"Wow didn't know the octopus was hispanic now," He joked "But...why don't you tell senor octopus that my sensei says I'm the best student in his class,"

"Really? The best in his class?"

"Yup,"

Harper just nodded her head, as she continued eating her sandwich. She hesistated, not knowing if she should agree to it or not.

"You don't believe me?" He asked, clutching his heart pretending he was hurt.

"What...n-no I didn't say that," Harper defended.

"Stand up," He said.

She didn't know what he was getting up but decided to go along. She placed her food on the bench before doing as she was told.

"Okay here's what we're gonna do. Get into like a fighting position,"

Harper stood there with her arms out as fists. He adjusted her position, circling around her as he did. At one point, he placed his hands on her hips. Feeling his grip made Harper's heart flutter a little.

"You wanna put your hands on my hips?" Harper teased him.

He tensed up, his cheeks blushing.

"Uh W-What no I'm just correcting your stance. Look, this move is very hard so if you don't get it on the first time then-"

Before he could continue, Harper hooked her arm over his neck and successfully managed to flip him over. He grunted as his back hit the floor. He saw Harper standing over him, not trying to hide a chuckle.

"Harper...that was amazing!" He exclaimed, still stunned about what just happened.

He tried to get back up but Harper placed her foot on his chest, pushing him back down.

"Call me sensei Harper," She joked.

Griffin was still too stunned to speak.

"H-How did you...W-Where did you-," He rambled, trying to get the words out of his mouth.

"Let's say I've had some practice," She said.

She removed her foot from his chest. She Then, she sat on Griffin's chest, her hands holding on to his shirt. This made his eyes grow a little bigger but he just kept his cool. He didn't know what to do so he slowly moved his hands to hold her waist.

"You know...I'd be lying if I said this wasn't the best date I've ever been on," She admitted, not meeting Griffin's gaze.

Griffin couldn't help but smile as Harper sat on his chest. He was captivated by her charm and the twinkle in her eyes.

"Best date ever, huh?" Griffin replied, his voice a bit shaky from the surprising turn of events.

"Yeah, you can say that," She giggled, when she saw how flustered he looked.

Griffin couldn't help but join in the laughter as well.

"I thought this technically wasn't a date?" He teased.

"Oh...my bad. Totally not a date,"

Griffin's heart raced as he lay there beneath Harper, her laughter echoing through the arcade. He looked up at her with a mischievous grin.

"Right, definitely not a date," he chuckled, his hands still on her waist.

Harper leaned in closer, her face inches from his. "Well, since it's not a date, I guess I can do this."

She leaned closer, her fingers still gripping his shirt. He nervously gulped as her face was getting closer and closer to his.

Before he knew it, She closed the gap between them and planted a soft, lingering kiss on his lips.

Griffin's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly melted into the kiss. It was sweet and tender, sending a wave of warmth through him. They parted, both wearing bashful smiles.

"And...that was um totally not a kiss?" She said, trying to hide the blush on her cheeks.

Griffin didn't say anything. He just stared at Harper, who was still perched on top of him.

"Griffin, are you okay?" Harper asked.

"Wow," Griffin said, still a bit breathless.

They both ended up sharing a laugh.

"Sorry...that was just wow," He said, still mesmerised by the kiss.

I guess you can say their first 'date' went very well <3
