Durga's pov
Once Sri left, I turned towards Rocky who gave me a intense look still munching the sandwich. I heaved a nervous sigh. To ease the tension, Arjun anna initiated the talk.
How're you doing? Durga.
I'm good anna. How're you and Dev anna doing?
All good ma.
What good are you talking about? Her friend is the sole reason for Dev's misery. Rocky interrupted.
No girl in her sane mind will accept a guy who once broke her heart. So keep your mouth shut. Rocky just glared both of us. I looked perplexed.
Arjun anna continued, don't worry Durga ma Sri will clarify all your doubts. We're not in a state to tell anything. I nodded my head affirmatively.

Tell me about yourself Durga ma. Arjun anna asked.
Well, there is nothing much about me anna. I did my under graduation in Trichy and now I'm here for my post graduation.
Oh! So your parents are in trichy? Arjun anna said
Mch! Arjun, why don't you keep your mouth shut?
Rocky said with little rage while Arjun anna gave him a puzzled look.

My parents are no more anna. They passed away in an accident ,couple of years ago. I let out a sad smile.

Anna scooted near me and held my hand. I'm sorry dear.
No anna don't be sorry. I believe they're in a better place now. I smiled. He caressed my head lovingly. I smiled at him.

We were interrupted by a banging sound. We turned to see Rocky glaring at me. He slammed the box on the table. Arjun anna ignored him.

Don't mind him Durga. So, are you in hostel now?
No anna. I'm in my maternal uncle's house now. Uncle and aunt are such an great soul that they took me under their roof after my parents death. Infact, uncle is the one who suggested me this college and paid my academic fee.

Thank god you're in good hands but Durga ma if you have any problem don't hesitate to contact me. Give me your phone, I'll feed my number.

Anna, I don't have phone.
What are you serious? Arjun asked surprisingly.
Yeah. That my phone broke a couple of months ago. Back then I didn't find it necessary to purchase. But I'll soon arrange it.

How will you arrange da? I'll get you one.

No anna. Before I continue Rocky interrupted. Either she'll ask her uncle or beg in streets what else can she do. Such a burden for others. He laughed sarcastically.

Certainly not. If I had such intention I would've asked my uncle long time ago. I don't wanna burden him and I'm very much clear about it. About the second option, I'm fit and fine so I don't think begging is a good option. God has blessed me with good senses so I might find some other alternative. Don't bother yourself with my thoughts SENIOR. I smirked at him.

He glared at me with an eyebrow raised. Arjun anna struggled controlling his laughter.

Thanks Anna. I'm really happy that I've found someone like you to lean on.

I was truly happy about.I gave him a content smile which is returned to me.

Bell rang we all dispersed to class. While leaving Rocky was glaring at me intensely that sent shivers to my spine. I sighed, went to class. Soon after, Sri came with a flushed face . I asked her what happened, she said nothing.

Sri, can I also join you for working as a part time in the cafe. I really need this job.
What happened Durga? Sri asked me worried.
I told her about the situation I'm in and also I told about my conversation with Arjun anna.
Durga, you're such a strong girl. I'm very proud of you. Don't worry I'll talk to my cafe owner and let you know. But why didn't you tell Arjun anna about your aunt.
Sri, I really don't wanna portray my aunt has bad women. She's never one. She just taunts me and asks me to work that's all.
Are you dumb? It's evident that she dislikes you and still you're defending her. Unbelievable.
You know she was the one who used to take care of me since birth. I was her pet and she loved me so much but something or someone manipulated her. She's not at all a bad women. Don't worry. About my uncle, he's the best human. I don't wanna be a burden for them. So I want this job. Sri hugged me and nodded.

I reached home and as usual my aunt mocked me. She asked me to prepare dinner. I nodded.
I prepared chapathi ,aloo sabzi and chicken curry. I served them all. Uncle told me to join them before I could speak aunt interrupted saying," you know she's shy and won't eat with us, let her eat comfortably once we leave." I smiled at my uncle assuringly.

Once they left. I collected their plates. Washed the vessels and sat down to eat.

"So, I think you're very much happy with Arjun".

Here comes the monster to ruin my peace.
