Day 4: Dawn

I nearly jinxed myself.

That disassembly drone that I killed came back last night.

HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE???!!! HE REGENERATED HIS HEAD!!!

At least he entered through the same window he broke last night. At first, I thought that he was back for revenge, but then I saw him, and he looked different. His visor displayed eyes that looked like normal worker drone eyes that had a sad expression. And instead of claws, he had regular worker drone hands. It was pretty obvious why he came back. He was looking for his hat. I guess it was wrong of me to steal it. But I also didn't want to be seen, so I left it where he could find it. I snuck over to the front entrance and placed the hat on the conveyor belt of checkout lane four when he wasn't looking. I then snuck back to the bakery and rearmed myself with my shotgun. But thankfully, there was no need to fight this time. He spotted his hat and returned it to its proper place on his head.

???: "Oh, there's my hat!"

He straightened out his hair, placed his hat back on his head, and adjusted it.

???: "There we go, much better."

But then he saw the oil and I saw on his visor in the form of some text that he was going through a flashback. He remembered what had happened to him. He was back on the hunt for me.

Or at least, that would've been the case had a female voice from outside not called for him.

???: "HEY IDIOT, WHERE ARE YOU?!"

???: "COMING! Biscuits, she is going to be so mad at me for not returning to the spire last night."

He then promptly flew back out into the stormy night through the broken window. I quickly took the chance to reseal it again.

I have got to find something better than tape. This is all I have, and it's not working. I need to find something like metal that I can weld or solder into place to close the window permanently or new glass that I can reinstall to fix it.

The drone's hat was a rather well-made one. It made me feel a little more comfortable during the short time that I was wearing it. He's lucky to have such a nice hat. But there is still one thing that he had that I did not give back. Something that feels like I have a connection to. It resonates with me at the same frequency and gives off a similar energy. The crystal. Every time that I hold it in my hand, it gives off a feeling of connection I can't describe. It kind of reminds me of a lore component of a series of movies that I discovered back when I was ten years old.

The movies were a part of an over one thousand-year old franchise known as "Star Wars." Despite the age of the technology used in making the films, I loved them. Thinking about those movies reminds me of the good days before being sent to this purgatory of permafrost. It comforts me.

I miss my old life. I want it back so badly.
