I was wrong. They didn't come back. Not for tonight at least. Even so, we spent the entire night piling up stuff over the windows so they couldn't see us. We spent hours of pacing up and down the aisles and other parts of the store, paranoid that at any second the murder drones would break in and kill us.
But they never did.
We stayed up all night waiting for them to attack, but it never happened. We lost an entire night of sleep. It sucks, but there's nothing we can do. However, this does give me the chance to explain what needs to be done before Carys and I can truly consider this commissary our home.
The biggest risk to our safety as of now are the windows at the front entrance. As demonstrated by N, that glass is simply not strong enough to keep out hostile robots, so we got to fix that. The only effective way that we can do that is to either reinforce the windows or, more likely, seal them up with metal. I've also got to find a gun and some ammo that Carys can use, as well as new melee weapons for both of us.
We also need to fix the commissary's ventilation and electrical systems so we can breathe without these gas masks on our faces. As for how to fix the power, I found out pretty quickly. All the fuses in the store are broken. Every last one of them needs to be replaced.
And as if we didn't have enough tasks to write down on the to-do list, the toilet paper and paper towel packages that I've been using as bedding are not good enough. They just are not nearly as comfortable as a mattress.
All in all, our top priorities for today are to find a welding torch, welding rods, some sheets of steel, either a reciprocating saw or an angle grinder, some fuses, melee weapons, and a second gun and ammo.
We're tired, but we're also in a massive time crunch. We NEED these items asap! Let's just hope we get lucky.
