Summer slowly started to wake up, her entire body still weakened greatly as her nerves still pulsed with pain, opening her eyes slightly, she felt a light stinging sensation on her left arm, pushing past the pain, Summer full opened her eyes and quickly scanned her surroundings, to her surprise she was in a hospital room, the entire place looked clean and well maintained, Summer however remained vigilant as she knew it could be her mind playing tricks, for all she knew she could be dead, the slightly sting she felt from her wounds however easily dismissed that idea, sighing and lowering the blanket she was covered with, Summer saw how most of her wounds were stitched up and cleaned, Feeling her words get struck in the back of her throat, Summer laid back down and chuckled ever so slightly...

She had escaped Salem and was still alive, she Survived...

Summer's eyes once again were full of tears, she wanted to scream in joy, tears of joy and relief fell down her face as she let out a joyous chuckle, she had beaten the odds and was going to see her family again, Summer's chuckles soon erupted into booming laughter as a Nurse walked in, the nurse was shocked to see such a sight and started to sweat...

Gulping loudly before quickly exiting the room, the nurse ran into the nearby hallway, Summer would have raised an eyebrow if she wasn't feeling so grateful, she couldn't stop laughing even if she wanted to, she was aware that it made her look like a raging madwoman but at the time Summer couldn't care less, she had done the impossible and was still alive to tell her story, it had really opened Summer's eyes, she had been a huntress for years and only now she realised how much she put her life on the line, Summer didn't want that life anymore, she decided enough was enough.

Summer knew she wouldn't survive every encounter with grimm, the job of being a huntress had it's perks but now she was ready to retire, maybe she could pick up a more common job and held her family out that way, she wouldn't even be alive if it wasn't for-

Summer stopped thinking for a brief second as she realised one thing...

She WOULDN'T be alive if it wasn't for Umbra...

Summer's tears of joy soon turned to anger and sadness as she realised Umbra most likely died within the land of darkness, the last she saw Umbra, he was defending her from Salem and was mortally wounded, Summer knew he was most likely killed by Salem, Summer felt sick to her stomach, she remembered Umbra standing before him, smothered with fear but not afraid to die, Summer was beyond grateful, no words could express how happy she was to be somewhere familiar, dark thoughts however swirled within Summer's mind as she thought about Umbra.

He was dead because she got caught...

Salem had no doubted killed Umbra and it was all her fault, Summer knew if she had perhaps prepared herself better and was more careful, Umbra had a good chance at surviving, it started to eat away at her, Summer continued to cry, she knew she was an idiot for thinking she could take on any grimm, now however? she was sure to retire, she's had enough fighting and killing for a lifetime, Summer didn't care if she was one of Ozpin's finest and one of his most trusted allies, she was done, she was going to enjoy her life.

The distant sound of footsteps snapped Summer back to reality, she was still feeling weak so she laid back in her hospital bed and tried to relax, she knew she'd be out of the field for a while, soon the door leading to Summer's room opened, there stood Ozpin, the poor man stared at Summer with worry, it was obvious why, while Salem truly couldn't care less about her followers, Ozpin did, he hated when people died for him, it made him feel even worse than he usually did.

Ozpin: It's good to see you back Summer...I...I thought I sent you to your death...

Summer: I-I almost died in Salem's dungeons, she nearly killed me until...HE managed to break me free.
