It had nearly been a long decade for Umbra and the rose family, everyone was a little on the fence when Umbra stayed alongside them, yet that fear and worry quickly vanished as he proved himself to be a valuable ally and friend, with Umbra staying near Summer's home, the number of grimm in the surrounding forests had dropped drastically, Umbra had been hard at work and killing grimm left right and center and nothing seemed to slow him down, deathstalkers to Ursi, nothing managed to survive his incredible might, it was at that point where Qrow discarded his worries, in his eyes, umbra had proven himself.

Tai may have remained on the fence for while but even he caved when he saw the useful nature of Umbra, grimm were too afraid to even get close to the house, Umbra was always two steps ahead of everyone, As much as Tai hated the idea, he knew Umbra was a good grimm, someone who truly changed for the better.

And to everyone's surprise, Umbra had also made contact with Ozpin.

While the talk with Ozpin was rocky at first, both of them managed to remain civil and calm enough, Ozpin didn't want to believe Umbra had changed and Umbra didn't trust Ozpin due to the secrets he possessed, Ozma had blood on his hands, he has used people for hundreds of years, yet Umbra was the same, he had taken his fair share of life's, he however was willing to change, he wanted to be better for everyone around him, to fight for something bigger than himself.

Umbra decided if he was going to work with Ozma in the future, he had to give something tangible to work with, Umbra gave every last piece of info he had on Salem, from information of Iris and Wolf to Salem's other followers, Umbra gave it all up, in return for everything he gave up, Ozpin was to give Umbra a chance to prove himself, to show he was better than just a regular grimm...Ozpin may have not admitted it...but he was glad to have such a powerful being on his side, someone who could reliably take on any threats and enemy...

With the future ever approaching, Umbra saw it fit to train his body and mind, with the grimm need to constantly evolve into something more powerful and dangerous, Umbra grew stronger than ever before, his movements were more fluid and precise, his strength was incredible and could easily overwhelm even the largest targets, Umbra was pleased with the improvements to say the least as he now had more freedom than he knew what to do with.

Summer also wanted to train, she volunteered to help Umbra with his own training, despite knowing how outclassed she was, Summer still insisted on helping around, Umbra could only guess it was down to worry in case he wasn't there to fight wolf and Iris, while Summer would never be able to match their strength and speed, she still wanted to improve herself so she could at least give them the fight of a lifetime.

Standing outside Summer's home, Umbra looked towards the distant horizon and wondered about the future, maybe in another life he still served Salem and was more akin to a beast than man, for everything that happened, Umbra was glad everything turned out the way it did, he was on the right side of history and was going to prove himself, steeling himself, Umbra let out a shaky breath before hearing the front door of the house open.

Umbra chose to wait as he knew who it was...

Summer: Heya Umbra! You ready for a little skirmish?

Umbra: I am indeed ready for our little sparing session, I believe we can both benefit from it.

Umbra motioned for Summer to follow, there was a clearing not to far from the house that was perfect for such training, the old grimm however had to slow down his steps due to Summer's short height, he didn't mind of course as Summer was a dear friend and a valuable ally in troubled times.

Umbra: I assume your ready?

Summer: As ready as I can be, doubt I can give you much of a fight big guy! your quite the tough bastard...
