EXCERPT:

The Blood War in 06301 oversaw the use of genetically modified individuals as soldiers. Split into four major categories, each landmass developed their own type of soldier. They would then come to overthrow their respective governments establishing four separate monarchies.

With each group of soldiers ruling over the land from which they originated, the rest of the population was divided into castes dependent on genetic purity. Those who were more genetically modified tended to belong to higher castes as they tend to be physically and mentally more able than their less modified counterparts. The caste system is dependent on a meritocracy with it being possible to shift between castes in accordance with the individual's contributions to society.

More on this can be found in exhibit 72a.

As for the divisions of the royal houses- more on the individual family abilities can be found in exhibit 43e.

"Ri, you know I don't care. He could be the prettiest guy on earth, and it wouldn't matter. You know that I'm not interested."

"Yeah yeah, I've tried time and time again to set you up with girls and guys and neither. The only thing you seem to ever be interested in is your violin. I swear you're going to marry that thing."

This conversation was a stale one. Rion was often faced with exasperation at Atlas and his inability to be interested in anyone. It was a shame. At least, that was the general consensus of anyone who did try to court Atlas. Things would always be platonic between him and Rion, any romantic relation between them would just be wrong on a fundamental level.

Atlas leaned back in his chair and shut the screen of his laptop. He was listening to Rion go on about his lack of sexual interest with a combination of annoyance and amusement. The mention of his violin brought back a rush of anxiety. He chose to look away from her and concentrate on a scratch in the dark mahogany of the dining table he had set up. The pain in his hands was acting up again, slowly starting in his joints and radiating down to his bones. Focusing on the shooting pain, he let out a shaky breath in an attempt to ground himself.
