Early the next morning, Val woke up in her bed in her temporary bedroom, tucked into the covers and cozy.

However, waking up alone was scary for her and she had one thing on her mind and one thing only. She wanted nothing but to be around her boys.

The young woman emerged from her room, not crying in the slightest how messy her braid had become, and made her way down the stairs.

Matty had to have carried her up to her bed after she fell asleep the night before. Which also means he probably hasn't slept much if at all.

Val was shocked to see Mattheo not only fully awake, but with a smile on his face. He was seated at the large dining table with just about everyone else.

Well, everyone besides Theo. Even Arthur was awake and "parked" in a wheelchair at the table with everyone.

"Hey," Matteo hopped up from his seat at the table and hugged Val good morning. "Sleep okay?"

"Shockingly, yeah," She rubbed her eyes. "Is-"

"His fever broke overnight," Mattheo smiled. He's been awake too, earlier when everyone else woke up."

"Is he okay? Like is he..."

"Shaken up and disoriented, hell yeah," Riddle said. "But he's better than he was and he understands he's safe now."

Valeria nodded and stood up on her tippy toes to kiss him softly. "I love you. Good morning."

"Good morning, gorgeous," Mattheo smiled at her. "Come on. I know you're itching to see him."

The two made it into the living room again and Val was pleased to see that Theo was not only looking more comfortable and rested, but he was awake.

And he absolutely beamed at his best friends the moment he saw them enter the room together.

"Hey, hero," Val sat on the edge of the couch next to him. "Feeling okay?"

"Seeing you two alright definitely makes me feel better," Theo explained. "Bit of a stomach ache but I'm okay. Happy to see you two, la mia famiglia."

"We're happy to see you alright too, mate," Mattheo smiled at him and hugged Val from behind.

"What did I miss?"

"Not much. None of us have wanted to talk about war plans but we really should," Mattheo frowned. "My father doesn't like waiting, especially when it comes to him getting his revenge."

The three of them were quiet, but Theo spoke up. "They're... gone- right?"

"Your sperm donor and birth giver? Yes. I ended their lives the second they tried to end yours," Mattheo said. "They can't hurt you anymore, mate."
