"Caroline" I tug on her sleeve.

She slowly opens her eyes and looks around "What time is it?"

I tap her watch and read groggily "9:30"

"Shit" Caroline practically springs up and I tiredly follow her while she zips around.

"Girls get ready! This is not a drill this is fireman fast!" Caroline bangs on their door and then zips off to start the car.

I tiredly and still in shock of last night I walk down to the kitchen and see a note left on the counter in lined notebook paper

"Don't worry mom, dad was able to pick us up. Don't worry Lizzie grabbed her English project and we made ourselves toaster strudel. Love you mom" It was written in Josie's loopy handwriting.

"Caroline"I walk out into the driveway and press the note to the glass of the window.

"Oh" she rolls down the window and sighs a breath of relief. "Do you want to get breakfast?"

"Sure" I climb in through the window and curl up in the front seat.

"I'm thinking donuts?" She looks over at me.

"Hmm I want a bagel though" I put my feet up on the dash.
"Please lie to me and say you'll eat a donut so I don't feel bad for buying a dozen because I feel like I could eat a dozen."

"I'll eat three donuts and a bagel" I smile at her.

"Great idea hope" she laughs almost passively and then turns on the radio for me to connect my phone.

I like showing my music to Caroline I know it's probably stupid but I like to impress her with all the songs I found that I want her to hear.

When I was little I liked impressing my mom with what music I found and then she'd share some cool songs and tell me about all the wild concerts she went to.

Caroline and my mom have..... well had a dramatically different music taste caroline tends to be into
Britney Spears,  Taylor Swift , and I guess more popular stuff but I think I'm getting her into classic rock, psychedelic rock, and punk music. She doesn't tell me if she likes the song unless she loves it and if she doesn't like it she compares it to another genre I know she doesn't like as much. I like trying to decipher what she likes.

The car ride is mostly silent excluding the blaring music only interrupted by the occasional singing along or tapping my feet on the dash.

"Is this song about ecstasy?" Caroline glances at the radio display and then at me and then back to the road.

"Don't worry the only drugs I do is the crack I'm cooking in my room well besides the cough medicine I've been stealing from the convenience store." I look over.

"Funny" she rolls her eyes at me.

"I'm very funny" I smile.

"I've noticed." The she looks over at me pulling into the parking lot, " You know we need to talk later"

I groan and slide down the seat.
