It was a rare morning at the Avengers' headquarters. The team had just returned from a very hard and grueling mission, and their battle-worn bodies needed some rest. The sun was already high in the sky when Natasha and Wanda entered the common area of their headquarters.

As they moved quietly through the space, they noticed a familiar face still lost in slumber on the nearby couch. It was Y/n, the 18-year-old newcomer to the Avengers team. Her presence had brought a youthful energy into the group, and her enthusiasm had quickly endeared her to her new teammates.

Y/n had arrived at the Avengers' headquarters not too long ago and she was still adapting to the lifestyle of an Avenger. The previous mission had taken a toll on all of them, especially on y/n who is new to all of the avenger stuff. Luckily Fury had granted all off them to a day of rest to recover.

Y/n, who had pushed herself to the brink during the mission, had taken full advantage of the rare opportunity for a lie-in, didn't matter that she wasn't in her room, wherever she was, she would take a nap. Currently, she was curled up on the couch, her features softened in sleep. Her long, curly, brown hair spilled over the armrest, and a blanket had slipped down to her hips, leaving her uncovered from the waist up.

Natasha and Wanda exchanged a knowing and amused look as they approached the slumbering teenager. They understood the toll that the mission had taken on the kid and decided to let her rest just a little longer before it was time for dinner. Natasha gently placed a finger to her lips, signaling Wanda to be silent.

Wanda nodded and joined Natasha in carefully sitting down on the floor beside the couch. They watched Y/n sleep for a moment, marveling at how peaceful she looked, free from the usual worries that came with being an Avenger, free from all the responsibilities that a teenager shouldn't have.

The room was bathed in the warm evening sunlight, casting a soft glow on Julie's sleeping form. Natasha couldn't help but feel a sense of protectiveness toward the young recruit. She had taken Y/n under her wing, to be Y/n's mentor and friend through all of the challenges that an avenger has to face.

After a few minutes of quiet contemplation, Natasha softly whispered to Wanda, "She looks so young when she's asleep. It's easy to forget she's just a kid trying to find her place in all of this."

Wanda nodded in agreement, her gaze still fixed on Y/n. "She's strong, Nat, but she's also so vulnerable. We need to look out for her, especially on days like this. I see myself in her, when Piet and I were alone on the streets, just looking for validation from anyone. I want her to always have someone, on who she can rely on. I don't want her to push herself this far, Nat, just to show that she's worthy of being an avenger" Wanda stated solemnly

Natasha gently reached out and brushed a strand of hair away from Y/n's face. "You're right, Wands. We all do, we have to make sure. She's just a kud" Her voice was filled with a mix of concern and determination.

As they continued to watch over Y/n while the TV softly played, the young recruit began to stir in her sleep. She let out a soft, contented sigh and slowly opened her eyes. Her gaze was hazy with sleep, and it took her a moment to register her surroundings.

Y/n blinked a few times, and when her gaze finally focused on Natasha and Wanda, a blush crept onto her cheeks. "Oh, um, hi," she mumbled, realizing she had been caught sleeping in the common room.

Natasha offered a warm smile. "Good morning, baby. Sleep well?"

Julie nodded, still feeling a bit disoriented. "Yeah, I guess I needed that more than I thought."

Wanda chimed in, her tone gentle. "You've been working really hard, sweetie. It's important to take some time for yourself."

"I know Wands, I'm sorry. I was just so exited. Thank you for looking out for me though"

Natasha patted Y/n's leg affectionately. "That's what we're here for, kiddo. We're a family, we take care of each other."

The day continued with a very relaxed atmosphere, as the Avengers took a much-needed break to recover from their recent mission. Y/n, now fully awake and recharged, joined her teammates in the common area. They played some Mario-kart, watched some movies, played monopoly and ordered Chinese.

As the sun completely set, Natasha and Wanda exchanged another knowing look when they saw Y/n fast asleep against Thor. They had accomplished what they set out to do—caring for their young teammate and ensuring that she was part of the family, that everybody cared for her well-being. With the weight of the mission and their responsibilities temporarily lifted of their shoulders, they could finally relax with all of their loved ones around them.
