chapter 2

Ray woke up the next morning with a blaring hangover. He was sprawled on bed, trying to adjust his eyes to the gleaming sun shining through his window. Ray got up to close the blinds, taking a moment to admire the beautiful blue sky and crisp breeze. The perfect morning weather.
Ray took a look around the room, feeling the absence of something he couldn't quite place. There was water and pain meds on the nightstand, which he eagerly took.
As his consciousness began to clear last night's fog, he could finally start piecing together some of what happened. His drunken disaster at YOLO, Yo calling someone to take him home, and finally Sands warm embrace during the night.
Sand was here.
This was something Ray already knew. He could almost smell the lingering scent of cologne and leather. Ray looked around the room for his phone. It was plugged into the charger, something he knew he wouldn't have been able to do last night. Another indicator that someone had once again taken care of him last night.
Ray quickly sent a text
"Thank you for coming to get me" it read. His phone immediately buzzed in response.
-Message undeliverable-
Ray froze, confused by the notification. He tried calling Sands' number but could only hear the dial tone.
That stirring in his heart began to increase, he slowly began to panic.
Ray was processing what was happening while looking at his screen. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, even his email.
- Message undeliverable, user not found, unable to deliver , the same message over and over again.
Sand had blocked him.
Ray opened up his banking app and sent Sand 10,000 Baht.
-unable to complete transfer-
"Shit" Ray thought to himself. His eyes darted around the room, manically looking for something.
Ray stood up and ran to his closet, he rummaged through his clothes but couldn't find what he was looking for. He pulled open his drawers, throwing clothes haphazardly across the room.
A soft and worn white t-shirt Ray never gave back, and a black pull over that Sand had forgotten in his car. It was all gone. Ray raced around the room looking for anything that belonged to him. For a small indicator that Sand was in his life.
There was nothing. Even the guitar pick that used to sit on his nightstand was now gone.
The panic rose up in his chest, and the tears started to flow on their own. Ray swallowed, unable to catch his breath. His breathing became deep and more rapid.
He's gone. Sand is gone. Ray sat on his bed unable to comprehend what this meant.
"He's gone and I can't even blame him for it" . Ray thought. As much as Ray wanted to say he was right and that everyone eventually leaves him. Ray had no one to blame but himself.
Ray knew Sands' feelings had grown deeper but he was too afraid and scared to do anything about it. He couldn't give Sand what he wanted. He didn't know if that was something he could ever give to him. Sand deserved someone who would put him first, and Ray knew he wasn't capable of that. Ray wasn't capable of doing anything for anyone.
