Sofia's POV

Sometimes I really wonder what I did wrong in my life. How is it possible for someone to keep breaking your heart again and again and again? Will it ever stop?

I gaze at the photo of Pedri with the girl. They look happy together. Is he presenting himself to her the same way he did with me? Is he saying the same sweet things? Is he touching her the same way? She's prettier than me, so I can understand him.

I'm startled by Benjamín knocking on the door of my office. He's holding two cups of coffee. "Hey, is the meeting already?" I ask, alarmed, glancing at the clock. He nods. "Yes, but take your time," he says. I nod and grab my notepad and laptop. Then I quickly follow him.

We enter a meeting room, and I close the door behind me. I set up my laptop, and a large image of the girl with Pedri appears on the big screen in the room.

"Mierda," I swear, quickly closing the page. Blushing with embarrassment, I glance at Ben. "I'm really sorry for you," he says. "You've seen it too?" I ask. He nods. "Everyone has seen it, Soof. After your article, Pedri is under intense media scrutiny. Every step he takes is captured."

I nod. The aftermath of my article was quite heavy. I'm glad it was such a big success. It was soon picked up by major newspapers throughout the country. Initially, I felt guilty about Pedri. After all, this is terrible for his career, but on the other hand, he broke my heart. This is a sort of payback. Ugh, I'm disgusted with myself. This isn't like me at all. I never wanted to do something like a payback. I still love him, yes, I love him. Despite everything, I just can't bring myself to hate him. I miss him so much.

"I understand why you're looking at that photo, but don't let it drive you crazy. Maybe she's just an old friend. You don't know," says Ben. I nod. "The media is just playing a game now. Even if he's seen with his sister, they think it's his new girlfriend," he explains. "He doesn't have a sister," I contradict my friend.

Ben starts sighing. "You get what I mean. Don't get all smarty," he says, and I nod. "I still believe this is all a big misunderstanding. You need to talk to him," he suggests.

I shake my head. "No. I wasn't wrong," I begin almost shouting. "You wrote an article about him behind his back. Don't act like you're a saint now," says Ben confrontationally. I look at him. "Touché," I say with a French accent. Ben smiles. "Neither of you has been honest. Of course, what he did is worse, because if he hadn't, a completely different article would have been published."

"I think there wouldn't have been an article, and I'd be out of a job," I sigh. Ben shrugs. "You're a born writer. Margo wouldn't have let you go. When do you have your conversation with her about your future?" he asks.

"It's scheduled for this afternoon. She didn't have time before," I reply. Ben nods. "Alright. Let's get started with our meeting. Before an hour passes, and we have nothing concrete on paper." I nod and head to our planning system.

Ben and I discuss various ideas and tactics for his upcoming articles. Ben is excellent at his job. Very good, but sometimes he gets stuck with ideas. It can be challenging to keep writing new things about sports. Now that I've delved a bit more into football, I can help him come up with fresh ideas.

After the meeting with Ben, which has run over its time, I need to hurry to Margo's office.

I had been nervous about this meeting with Margo for days. After the success of my recent article, she wanted to discuss something important, and I was eager to know what it was. Ofcourse I had an idea, but I was not sure. As I walked into her office, I couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement mixed with a tinge of anxiety.
