Waking up the next morning to the bright light of the sun shining brightly through my bedroom window I sit up out of bed gently rubbing the sleep away from my eyes before getting up and making my way over to the bathroom to shower and get ready for the day ahead of me. Shortly after I finish showering I hop out of the shower quickly drying myself off before heading back into my bedroom to get dressed.
Once I finish getting dressed I grab my phone off of the nightstand before heading downstairs and into the kitchen grabbing a poptart off of the counter quickly opening it as I take a bite of it "morning peanut." Jenna said as she walked past me "morning." I said with a mouthful of food "alright, we're heading out." Elena said as she made her way downstairs towards the front door while I followed closely behind her hopping into the passenger side before she takes off heading to the address of our supposed birth mother's best friend.

Finally arriving we hop out of the car making our way up the walkway towards the front door "you ready to this?" I asked her with a hint of nervousness in my voice as she looked at me "not really." She muttered before picking her hand up about to reach for the door knocker stopping midway to look at me "hey, we got this." I muttered as she nodded at me quickly knocking on the door waiting for a response then all of a sudden a blonde headed woman opens the door with a smile on her face."Trudie? Trudie Peterson?" Elena asked "yes." The woman whispered "my names is Elena Gilbert and this is my little sister Charlie. I wanted to talk to you about Isobel Flemming." Elena said "well, I haven't heard that name in years. How do you two know her?" Trudie asked us "we think that um, well, do you know if she had any babies that she gave up for adoption?" I wondered as she looked at us in shock "my god, you're her daughters. I was just gonna make some tea would you two like some?" She asked us "sure." Elena smiled "uh, the kitchens this way." She smiled as she moved out of the way letting us pass through.
"We weren't gonna come. I didn't think we were but I was driving and I hit this stop light and it made me think about when I was learning how to drive and my mom would always warn me about this blind turn on the left-hand side and then I was thinking about our mom and...I had your address we're sorry for barging in." Elena stammered "it's no problem. Um, just a surprise though. I haven't thought about Isobel in years." Trudie replied as we took a seat at her dining room table "when was the last time you saw her?" I asked her "about 17 years ago when she left to go have you two. We kept in touch for a while but, you know people drift apart." Trudie said.
"And you don't know where she ended up?" Elena asked her "she was in Florida for a while. She was on her own...I know it wasn't easy." Trudie replied "do you have any who our father is?" I asked her with hope laced in my voice "I could never get her to fess up. Anyway she finally pulled it together got into college on a scholarship." Trudie smiled "where did she go?" Elena asked in amazement "somewhere in North Carolina. Duke I think...smart girl, smart school. Let me just grab that." She said as she made her way into the kitchen.
A couple minutes later she returns with a pot of tea and some old photo books as she places them on the table in front of us I grab it flipping it open immediately seeing a picture of Trudie and Isobel in cheerleading outfits with big smiles on their faces as I looked down at it in awe at the sight in front of me "uh, they came to the games for us...the football team hadn't won in years. We were the stars well, Izzy was but, I was a damn good backup." Trudie giggled "this is great. Thank you." I smiled "you're welcome. You haven't touched your tea." She muttered "oh, yeah." Elena mumbled as she took a sip of it while I continued staring at the photo in awe.
"What is this?" Elena asked her as she smelled something familiar about the tea making me look at her in confusion "oh, it's just some herbal mixture." Trudie quickly replied "vervain." I said in realization "you know." Elena realized "know what?" Trudie asked "you didn't invite us in and you're serving vervain tea you know." Elena said "I think that you two should probably leave." Trudie muttered "wait, what are you not telling us?" I asked her "please, leave. Now!" Trudie yelled as we both got up walking out of her house hopping in back into the car quickly taking off back towards our house.
