Chapter 22 – The Greatest Rival

Isaac was still digesting the information he heard. "You mean... that serial killer killed Daniel and Sophie?"

"That's our suspicion. And... oh, my God. Ike, you wouldn't know the condition of the body. This is one of the saddest cases ...."

Hearing that, Isaac didn't even dare to imagine.

He heard James still talking. "Daniel and Sophie got their heads cut off, Ike. Beheaded! How sad! I can't even imagine how terrible it would be to be Daniel and Sophie! Of course, last night was hell for them!"

Isaac frowned deeply. Why are there humans who are so mean toward fellow humans? Beheading random people! For no good reason! Even if there is a reason, it's still not proper for a reasonable human being to kill others!

James continued. "That's why, can you come here now? Your mother has been crying non-stop since earlier, I am confused about how to comfort her..."

"Turns out the killer was that real," muttered Isaac. "Even to the point of taking the life of mom's best friend? Dad, isn't it better for you to just go home and stay at home? Don't go anywhere! Come to think of it, Dad and Mom could also be the targets of the killer! Don't go anywhere before the killer is caught. Now I'm going there Dad, I'll escort you home."

So with a raging heart, Isaac turned around and immediately headed for the city of Manzester, about to pick up James and Evelyn. He couldn't imagine if the cold-blooded killer had made James and Evelyn his next target. He couldn't imagine. He won't let it.

Why are there so many bad people in this world? Someone is targeting him. Someone broke into his house and destroyed his trophies, for whatever reason. Some killers are still free to roam in search of prey. Why don't those bad people just repent and live a more normal life? Thousands of thoughts raced through Isaac's head as he drove.

"Eastland's no longer conducive ever since that sadistic serial killer terrorized everybody. Such a shame... That serial killer became a legend. He already killed many... I mean, hundreds of victims, you know! But he's too cunning and slippery, he didn't even leave one single trace, ever!" Isaac commented when he and Fez were having lunch together at Nobu Berkeley, a fancy restaurant in Leighryn.

"Hmm, then?" Fez said indifferently.

"What do you think? How many more victims until he is satisfied? I can't wait to see what that guy's face looks like."

Fez shrugged, looking disinterested in this conversation.

Isaac was bothered by Fez's flat reaction. "Don't you feel anything for the victims? The one who was killed yesterday, who was sadistically beheaded, is an old friend of Mom's."

"Well. Maybe Mom's friends were just unlucky," Fez stirred the coffee, then sipped it deliciously.

"Asocial. You never care, do you?"

"I don't know the victim, don't know the killer, why bother wasting time thinking about that?"

Isaac just sighed and shook his head, thinking, better find something else to talk about. "Well, the launching and testing of new cars for all teams has been completed, and soon the 2018 Grand Prix season will begin. Time flies so fast, doesn't it?"

Fez was silent for a moment. "This will be your first season at Glauber. How does it feel?"

Isaac grinned widely. "Excited!"

"Great. I hope you like it there."

"Yeah, this is my first season as a Glauber's racer, and what makes me excited more .... Fez, I can't wait for some side-by-side moments between the two of us!" Isaac said enthusiastically.
