"So what do you think of this?" Caine reappeared right after breakfast. He waved his cane, and instantly a blue maze surrounded her and the others. "Typical." She heard Zooble grumble. She couldn't see anyone except for Ragatha. "Alright, you are going to partner up to try and find the center of the maze," Caine announced. In a whisper so small that Pomni could barely hear it, he added, "Although if you do, it might be the worst mistake I've ever made."

Before she had time to ponder that, Ragatha began running. At first Pomni ran along with her, then she turned around to see what they were running from. A black something pounded toward them. Was that... An abstraction? She shook her head. Couldn't be. But Ragatha's harsh breathing and her panicked look convinced Pomni that maybe it was real. She ran a bit faster just in case. She thought she heard softer, quieter footsteps up ahead. She turned a corner and bonked into something purple and red. Instantly she knew it was Jax and Gangle.

"Hi, guys. Want to team-" Pomni never got the chance to finish. "No time. There's an Abstraction on our tail." Jax said. Pomni's heart sank. They were trapped. The two Abstactions came into view, huge and terrifying. As they neared, she felt something click inside her. "Stand back." She pushed the three others back to the side wall, surprised to find that she had the strength to do so. She took four steps towards the Abstractions. Then her vision went white. When her sight cleared, she was in her Abstract form.

Pomni heard a gasp from Gangle or maybe Ragatha. She was even bigger than she had been before, now maybe the size of a T-Rex. Her claws were menacingly extended, and she snarled softly at the two Abstractions. Caine would never let them loose. This must be the 'mistake' that he mentioned. He must have accidentally made the center of the maze over the entrance to the place where he puts the Abstractions. She took a step, shaking the floor. Usually when Caine set up a puzzle for them, he went out with Bubble.

He wouldn't be back for a bit. But once he realized that the Abstractions were loose, he'd teleport there and get rid of them. She just had to stall them until then. She saw the first Abstraction notice her friends. It might've just been her, but she thought she saw hunger in its eyes. "Stay away from my friends." She growled. She knew she had about five seconds before the two monsters charged at her. She couldn't leave her friends undefended, so she'd have to take them with her.

Pomni laid her tail on the ground and said, "Get on, guys. I have a plan." She felt a bump as Jax hopped on. "Come on, losers. This is probably the most fun we'll get ever!" He settled in right behind Pomni's first spike, on her neck. Gangle went up next, Ragatha pushing her. They didn't want her to fall off, after all. Ragatha got the third spike. Then, right as she sat down, the two other monsters charged at her. She leaped up, letting the two monsters bash their heads together before slamming their heads into the ground.

She opened her mouth, finding it surprisingly hot, and let out a stream of black fire from her main head, incinerating the Abstractions. She stomped on them, claws out before the red haze cleared from her mind and she stepped away. The Abstractions slowly got up, now almost seeming a little scared. Pomni looked down at her paws. Scared... Of me? Or scared of this? She shook her head, looking back to where her friends were. Gangle seemed all right, but she was crying, which Pomni guessed was normal. Ragatha was holding on tightly and gave her a thumbs up.

Jax was passed out. Pomni did a double-take as she saw him snoring. "Are you kidding me? What happened to the 'most fun we'll ever get'?"

"Uh, Pomni, he fainted." Pomni blushed if that was possible. "Oh. Okay, then." Then something slammed into her left face. Black blood dripped on the floor as the Abstractions teamed up on her. One had her tail pinned, while the other dealt massive blows. She dodged one, used her snake head to bite the other, and extended her claws fully, the red haze of battle taking over.
