We went out of the dancing school and followed the street to the subway station. I was quite nervous. I knew it looked like we were dating, the way he held my hand in his. And I also knew that I liked it.

"Let's go to the Flamengo park, it's nice and green there."

"Okay, I mean I have time the whole afternoon."

We drove fifteen minutes with the subway, then got of and walked in the direction of the park.

When we got there it was 5 p.m. Many people were sitting there, riding their bikes, or just walking.

"Do you want to have an ice cream?" he asked softly.

"Sorry, I haven't got money, but you can have one of course."

"Let's go to the shop then", he smiled gently at me.

He took my hand and walked towards the shop. The shop assistant asked what we liked.

"What is your favourite flavour?" he asked me.

"Well, I like cherry most, but strawberry and lemon are really good too."

"Okay", he turned to the assistant. "We'd like one cherry and one lemon ice cream", Juan said just when I got the gist of his question.

"No", I said in horror. He shouldn't spend money for me. But he didn't listen anyway. The assistant smiled and in his expression I read that he understood everything. He handed the cherry ice cream to me. I shot hateful glances at Juan. He just laughed.

"Ugh", I murmured.

"Rose", he looked at me while we walked to a bench and sat down. I looked up from my ice cream. The expression on his face was new to me. Although I knew him for only a few hours, it seemed to me that I knew him for years and I felt very clearly that I didn't want him to go. It was so nice to sit here with him, to feel the warmth of his body. I had had many friends in Boston, many of them had been boys, but I had never felt something like this. I had never been in love with someone, maybe this was it, the feeling they call love...

He leaned to me, his face was nearly touching mine and his lips were just a few millimetres away from mine. "I love you", he whispered. "I know you for just a few hours and I already can say that I love you."

"I love you too", was everything I could answer. And then his lips touched mine...

It was the nicest feeling I had ever had. Now he was sitting very close to me. His arm was lying around my waist. He didn't lean away like many boys did after a kiss... after the first kiss. He was just sitting there. I knew I never wanted him to move, to go away. And I also knew that our time was running out. We would both have to go. Already now, I knew I would miss him.

"Do you want me to bring you to school tomorrow?" I had nearly waited for that question, I had hoped for it to come. I lifted my head and looked into his eyes.

"Of course I want you to take me", I answered. His fingertips were wandering down my waist. It felt so nice.

"At seven am?"

"Yeah, that'd be okay."

He dragged me closer to him. It felt like a fire was burning between us.

"I don't want you to go", I whispered, because I knew that this was coming.

"I don't want to leave either", he whispered back. "I hate the idea but my parents are waiting."

"Can't they wait a few minutes longer?" I knew it was a stupid question. I knew parents very well. I just wanted to win some time.

"You wanted to go working at Diego's, I thought", he reminded me gently.

"Yes, you're right, of course."

He pulled me even closer to him and then he kissed me again.

"Will you find home yourself?" he asked. I rolled my eyes. He kissed me on the forehead at last. Then he turned away and disappeared behind some trees. I watched him going then I stood up and went home.
