Chapter 2
Bella's POV
My head pounded painfully in my skull. I couldn't think clearly. I tried my best to keep calm and to stay still but the beating of my heart gave me away. I had woken up not to long ago from the dreadful...incident, I preferred to call it. The creatures were still there though. They knew I was awake.
It was futile to even try and outwit them, because they were a lot stronger and had much more experience of things over the years. It was a lost cause. I would never win.
"Open your eyes." The voice said. I knew it was from the boy who had stopped Adonis from sucking me dry. If only he had, then maybe I would be away from this hell-hole.
I refused to open my eyes. I refusd to look at them. I hated them.
"Open your eyes." The voice said a little harsher than before. Still I refused. This caused a familiar, cold hand to roughly grab my shoulders and begin shaking me. My eyes popped open in shock.
"Let go of me!" I screamed at Adonis. Those cold, red eyes peered at me viciously and I was slapped across the face so hard, my head slammed against the wall. I heard a hiss come from above me and instantly knew why. Adonis had cracked open a wound that was on my head, causing blood to seep out.
I quickly sat up, which resulted in a wave of dizziness, and wrapped my arms around my head. I wouldn't allow him to bite me again. Not like I had the choice, but I wouldn't give up without a fight first. Even if it did kill me. You can only dream.
Adonis reached down and grabbed my arm to yank me up. He growled at me and pushed me into the wall again, a little rougher than before. I cried in pain, for the bruise was already forming and again recieved another slap to the face. This time, blood pooled in my mouth and I spat it out, disgusted.
Adonis's eyes quickled reverted to the blood I had spit out and a look of hunger spread across his features. He was sick.
His eyes flashed back to mine and he bared his fangs at me, making it hard to look away. The fangs...they looked so sharp and white. They gleamed wickedly in the light, making me want to cry in fear. But I didn't dare.
"Foolish girl." He whispered deadly. He shoved me to the ground, a crack being heard, and pain shot through my arm instantly. He had broken it.
I closed my eyes in agony and felt tears stream down my cheeks. The pain...I hated this.
I whimpered when I opened my eyes to see both of the vampires watching me. In Adonis's eyes, it showed nothing but hatred, hunger and satisfaction. Bastard.
But in the other vampire's eyes, it showed something like...sadness perhaps? I gritted my teeth. No. These creatures were nothing but monsters. They didn't care about what humans felt. They were cruel beasts. Soul-less.
I briefly noticed that the vampire winced slightly, like something someone had said or done had stung him and I wondered if he could read minds.
"Yes. I can." He whispered to me. I narrowed my eyes. Good. Then maybe he could feel the pain of knowing that he was a monster while I felt the pain of never feeling freedom again. He winced again.
"My name is Xavier. Not 'the vampire'." He said casually. I laughed bitterly.
"I could care less about your damn name, leech." I spat out. I felt something hard punch me in the gut and I groaned in pain, spitting up more blood. It was then that I knew that Adonis had kicked me in the stomach.
