Like we said we would, we went to the hospital after school. Jimin drove us there, and Haneul joined us as well.
'Hello, good evening.' Jimin spoke to the lady at the reception. 'We are here to visit a friend. Jung Hoseok. Which room is he in?'
We waited while she clicked around on her computer for a minute, when she took us by surprise.
'He just came out of the surgery, so he's still quite out of it. But if you'd like to see him, he's in the room 43.'
'Sorry, did you say surgery?' I cut in
'Yes. He had an open break on his left leg that needed surgery.' She confirms as she reads off the screen
'Shit.' Jimin cursed to himself under the breath. 'Thank you.'
All three of us went to him, lightly knocking on the door, only to hear the weakest 'U-huh' in history.
We slowly walked in to find Hoseok with both his legs in casts, one of his arms bandaged up, and his face full of bruises. He looked at us with a light squint, then sighed.
'What are you doing here? Came to gloat?'
'No, man. We heard what happened. Are you-' Jimin cut himself off, changing the question. 'How are you feeling?'
'Marvelous. I got both legs broken and I may never be able to dance again. Never better.'
I am not used to this depressed Hoseok. He is usually the smiley, annoying one. This is a total 180.
'Are you in a lot of pain?' I ask him
'I'm too drugged up for that.'
'What... what happened?' Jimin asks again
'I have no idea to be honest. I was going home from a friend's place late and just got knocked out out of nowhere. When I woke up I was in here and had both my legs broken.' His eyes teared up as he explained, and I actually felt so bad for him. I know how much he loves dancing.
'Is there anything we can do?' Haneul asks
He just scoffed, 'Unless you can magically fix my legs, I don't think so.' Then he looked at Jimin. 'At least your wish came true.'
'I'd much rather it didn't.' Jimin gulps
'Why are you even here? Don't you hate me?' He suddenly flipped on all of us
'You might be an ass, but you didn't deserve this, you idiot.' I argue
He closed his eyes and laid back into his pillow, his tears slowly sliding through his closed lids and down his face. 'Please, leave me alone. Just go.'
'If you need anything, just call. We are here for you.' Jimin hummed before nudging us out slowly
I looked at him once more before the doors closed, and he looked so broken. He was crying silently, covering his face with his hands.
'How come his family isn't here?' Jimin asked once we got out
'They're in Icheon. And they... they don't really care. They think dancing is a waste of time. He's been supporting himself since the moment he moved to Seoul.'
He didn't ask how I knew because it was quite obvious. But he seemed to have another idea.
'Wait here. I'll be right back.'
Me and Haneul watched Jimin walk off to the reception, talking to the woman there for a few minutes, nodding his head occasionally. He passed her something over the counter, and then a minute later, he walked back.
