My days passed fast, since no hope of Sam coming back was there. I felt kind of in peace and he wasnt the reason. My heart ached for the part that he owned, asked for him, and I could do nothing about it. He was just a memory that slowly had to be erased, and that wasnt even close to possible in my head. I knew I needed to ask for help, except from the therapy sessions, but my mind was blank when it came to that topic. The person I always turned to when I had a problem was Sam and he'd always find a solution to it. During these past two months I pressured myself to go out and meet new people, and honestly I was lucky enough to meet two amazing girls that I stuck with. They were both into adventures, and knowing me, exploring places was the only thing I knew how to do well, but I kept the reason behind it to myself. They both got intensely into it from the first time and it became our thing fast enough.

"Do you think it's safe?" Astoria asked as she took a turn left.
"Nowheres safe you know that" Ruby joked around hardly taking anything seriously. My eyes where lost in the distance, constantly getting flashbacks of the place we were heading at. It was our first time exploring an abandoned hospital. But I've been there before. And not alone.
As we got there we got the few equipment we've bought since we started all these nonsense, and tried to find a way in. I looked at the two girls search for a broken window, or at least a way to climb in. I headed for the one way in I knew of, wishing it still existed. I smiled to myself as I saw the tiny break into the brick wall. I called out to them and they basically jumped right in. I took my time and felt the same cold air rush through my skin, as my foot touched the inside of the building. Memories came rushing in. My first exploration with the boys.
"Y/N! You okay?" a hand touched my shoulder and I turned to see a worried Ruby. "We called for you twice"
"I got carried away from the graffiti Rubs sorry. Come on where's Astoria?" I took her hand as we headed for the flashlight light ahead of us. First and last time, when I came in this shithole, the activity we caught was insane. It was back then, when Sam and Colby used only Ouija boards and flashlights to communicate with the afterlife. That night was the night I believed in spirits and entities, and that changed my whole perspective on life. And that night was also the night I caught feelings for Sam. I tried to push the thought of that night away and I focused on the redhead infront of me talk.
"We could set up the rem pod in the the birthing room and do the estes method there?" Astoria suggested as she set took out a bottle of water out of her bag.
"I agree, should we try the spirit box first?" Ruby wavered it in her hand smiling like an idiot. We agreed and started asking questions. We tried for a few minutes and got nothing so we gave up on it. It was time for the Estes method and as we were setting up for it, the damn spirit box turned on by itself.
"Did you leave it open Ruby?" Astoria ran to it and I followed, when I stopped short in my tracks. A 'Sam' was called out from the box that was now in Astoria's hand. They didnt seemed phased by it but I felt my legs go limp.
"Is your name Sam?" Ruby asked as they continued making questions without getting any reply. The spirit box let out a 'Samuel' once again before it turned off. No matter how much we tried to turn it back on it seemed broken.
"Maybe it ran out of batteries"
"They had three more hours of working"
"Maybe its the signal then"
"It turned off it's not the signal jesus"
The convos were blurry in my ears as I stared at the little device infront of me. This wasnt possible. I hadn't thought of Sam in about two weeks now. And here he was. I pinched myself just in case I was dreaming.
"Y/N do you know a Sam maybe?" his name made me shiver.
"No I don't." I sounded defensive. "At least I dont think I do" I blinked as I tried to save it. They both stared at me for a second, Astoria opened her mouth to say something but the rem pod cut her off. This was the first time it's gone off all night. All of us shot up at once, staring at the dark hall infront of us.
"What the hell" I whispered, my eyes glued on the tall dark figure in the corner of the room the device was going crazy in. It stayed there for a second before disappearing to its right.
"You good? You're shaking Y/n." Ruby rubbed her hand on my arm. I did a full body turn and looked at her confused.
"You didnt see that?" my voice surprised me by how scared it sounded
"See what?" Astoria peeked from behind Ruby. There was no way. I stared at them with disbelief.
"There was a fucking shadow in the room! Right behind the door, are yall serious?" at this point my voice was slightly echoing through the halls.
"Alright that's bullshit let's do the estes and get outta here" Astoria went in the room where the figure was a few seconds ago. Before I said anything Ruby followed and sat on the chair that we'd set up before. Astoria gestured for me to go on and after a moment I did, hesitantly. We began the method, Ruby blindfolded and the headphones on max volume, that we could even hear some of the words. As I was calming down from the strange encounter, things got even weirder.
