Both thrusters. They didn't work. The infinite void of space was all around her and she could only float within her space suit. She was still tethered to the ship but too tired to move. Tired of running maintenance on this rundown satellite.
It's not like she didn't enjoy her job. She loved to be able to float about the ship and work solitarily from time to time. Her co-workers only came into question when the task required more hands to repair the satellite's infrastructure. Other than that, life was quite peaceful. But she missed her family back on Earth. And today was her son's birthday. The second one she's missed since she started the position.
She looked down at the blue globe called Earth. She wondered what he was thinking right now. Was he happy to see another year? Did he miss her giving him hugs and kisses? She truly hoped her husband remembered to give him the gift she prepared for him. She missed that goofy, handsome man as well.
A sigh escaped her lips as she felt the tears stream down her face. Her arms could do nothing to stop them. She honestly didn't want to.
She just hoped someday soon she'll come back and embrace them both.

Author's Note: If you've noticed, the next story is also posted! The reason is because they both are very short. This may happen from time to time but do hope you enjoy them nonetheless!
