Doppelgänger

"She seems nice."

Alexa turned around to see the others leaning against the wall. He was starting to get used to her sudden appearance.

"Where have you been?" she asked.

Alexa hadn't seen him all week. She seemed fine to him, now that he took a good look at her. The man shrugged in response not explaining further.

There was always something strangely familiar about the man. He seemed to remind her of the Mikaelsons in a strange way. There's no point in trying to dig deeper into who he is because his only response is that when the right time comes, Alexa will know.

"You're right." He commented after a few seconds of silence.

"About what?"

"About Katherine and Elijah. You were right about them"

"I?"

"Elijah loves her very much, even though it has been years since they last saw each other."

"He is still alive?" Alexa asked

He is not very interested in love stories. But that would only make him curious.

"Yes"

"So what actually happened between them?"

"Katherine was a doppelganger, Nik would never approve of Elijah's love for her. Nik wanted to use her. But she escaped and turned herself into a vampire, he has been looking for her ever since."

"You bastard" said Alexa.

Not completely liking whatever stupid reason Klaus would do.

"He has a reason"

"Yes, I'm sure he must have a pretty good reason for sabotaging his own brother's happiness." His voice was laced with sarcasm

“You should be more careful,” the man said, his voice serious and heavy.

Alexa looked at him

"Don't let them know that you are so curious about their past. They don't like to talk about it, especially Niklaus."

"Relax dude, the amount of crime shows I watch, I could literally bury a body and never find it. Don't try to change the subject."

"Believe me, I don't. I just don't want you to hate Nik without knowing the whole story."

"And what's the 'whole story'?" Alexa asked.

He never liked getting to know Niklaus. As far as he was concerned, he was a box of rattlesnakes he didn't even want to look at.

He didn't see much of her, not that he wanted to. His interest in Alexa is more about her abilities as a Soldier than as a person.

His subtle involvement in his daily practice is not so subtle. Alexa would notice how some days Joshua was replaced with another man she didn't know, who seemed to enjoy trying to break her back. Even though he would have done it first.

It was easy to identify how the other people in the house felt about him. Kol immediately hated him, Rebekah never cared. Elijah considers it as he says and he quotes "A wise friend is preferable to a hooligan condemned to live with him." Freya adores him and even Marcel and Camille, which is great.

But only Niklaus knows how he really feels about Alexa.

"That's not my story to tell."

"Yeah, sure, of course, I'll ask Mr. Werepire about his life story and he'll invite me to a sleepover where I'll give him a teddy bear and he'll have a full thirty minute mental breakdown because apparently he's always wanted a giant teddy bear that soft to hug, but no one cared enough to give him that and then he would tell me everything while we stuck clay masks on each other's faces"
