"aqua!" y/n called out for the blonde. you can notice his classmates drooling over you, you simply ignore them.

aqua looks at you with a blank expression. he stops himself from sighing. "yes, y/n?" he said tiredly.

"be my partner!"

aqua was slightly taken aback. "...i'm sorry?" he raised his brows.

"be my partner for the project, silly!" she giggled softly.

"oh," he expressed bluntly. it was apparent he wasn't paying attention in class today.

"well...?"

"okay... fine," he shrugged. he didn't really care who would be his partner for the project.

their classmates looked on with envy. boys were jealous of aqua while girls were jealous of y/n.

"great!" she grinned happily.

"aqua," she approached him again after school.

"yes?" he turns around, almost at the gate.

"do you wanna do it at your house or mine?"

for the second time, he was caught off guard. "eh?" it sounded like y/n wanted to do... intimate things with him.

"the project," she said innocently. "where should we do it?"

"oh..." he mumbled. "er, i don't really have a preference."

"okay, so let's do my house then!" y/n smiled.

he nods his head slightly, gesturing for y/n to lead the way.

as y/n walked in the house, she was immediately greeted by her brother, who seemed a bit too affectionate with her.

"my angel is home... oh, who is this?" her brother looked at aqua up and down, almost judging him.

"aqua hoshino," y/n grinned. "we're doing a group project together!"

"aah, a group project," he nodded. "y/n/n, why don't you go upstairs. i'm gonna talk to aqua for a bit."

y/n nods her head, not really thinking much of it as she walked upstairs to her room.

her brother immediately spoke up as soon as she was out of sight, "you probably think you're so lucky, huh? well you're not."

aqua raised his brows slightly.

"y/n... is a goddess! and she's mine," he continued, a twisted smile on his face. "i've been by her side since she was younger!"

well, that's because you're siblings, aqua thought.

"so don't come in here, thinking you can take her away from me," he said firmly.

y/n walked downstairs momentarily, "aqua, i have the materials ready!"

aqua nodded and walked past y/n's weird brother. her brother's glare faded into a fake smile as he watched him walk away.

y/n closed the door behind them and whispered softly to aqua, "sorry about my brother... he's a bit... protective of me."

"just a bit?" aqua raised his brows again. "whatever, let's just get this over with."

y/n nods her head.

"aah, we're halfway finished!" y/n sighed out tiredly, leaning back in her chair to stretch. she then looked at aqua. "did you want to stay for dinner?"

aqua didn't really want to stay at y/n's house for a longer time but since she offered, plus he's hungry, he decided to say yes.

"sure," he bluntly says.

y/n's brother was still glaring daggers at aqua.

"will you stop looking at aqua like that?" y/n said towards her brother. her brother's glare faded as he frowned.

aqua smiled slightly as she stood up for him. he felt warm inside after she had said that and he wasn't quite sure why.

the l/n family ate in silence. y/n occasionally looked at aqua as she ate, smiling softly. aqua looked back at her, noticing the way she looked away when their eyes met. he stopped himself from sighing out loud, wondering why he was so interesting to her.

eventually everyone was done with their food. y/n's parents and brother had left the dinner table. y/n stood up to start washing the dishes. aqua then stood up to help her.

y/n smiled at him again as they both washed the dishes together. aqua was so close to her, their shoulders brushing. aqua didn't really care but y/n did. she was blushing the whole time.

y/n was about to reach for a plate when her hand touched aqua's. her blush brightens as she retracts her hand. aqua noticed this and for some reason, he actually looked at her. like actually look at her. he noticed her galaxy-like eyes, her nice h/c hair. her soft looking skin. he was starting to see why boys like her so much. still, his indifferent expression remained on his face.

after the two were done, y/n looked at the clock. "it's getting late, your family is probably getting worried," she mentioned.

aqua then remembered about ruby and miyako. he nods, "yeah, probably. i should get home."

y/n smiles, "i'll walk you out."

aqua nods again. suddenly, y/n took his hand and lead him to the front door. aqua was caught off guard for a second when she took his hand.

y/n opened the door for him. she stood by the doorway with a smile. "i'll see you at school," she spoke softly.

aqua nodded for a third time, "see you."

he began to walk out the house. he turns around and waved at her. y/n raised her hand, waving back enthusiastically.

he couldn't help but notice her hair swaying in the cold air. her eyes glimmering when she waved back at him as she smiled wide.

he turns back around and started walking home. he felt that warm feeling again, remembering everything y/n did. every gesture. every glance. aqua then realized... he was falling for y/n.

suddenly he said something he thought he'd never say.

"oh wow."
