Bambi woke up alone the next morning. With a yawn she got out of bed and headed towards the bathroom. The idea of a working shower still hadn't sunk fully in yet and she was still getting used to the very idea, despite that, however, she embraced it and said fuck it and got in, and used as much of the burning hot water she could. When she got out, her skin was tinted red and her hair was dripping wet, she couldn't help but notice how long it had gotten. Wrapping her towel around her, ignoring the scars that now covered her legs and arms, she grabbed a pair of scissors and gave herself a quick hair cut.

When she was done, she went towards the closet and grabbed a pair of jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Today, would be her first class with the older kids while Ashley, the other teacher, taught the younger ones. It worked out for her and it gave her peace of mind knowing Ace was with someone she trusted only a little. After the younger class was done, Carol or Abraham would take Ace for her and wait until Bambi was done with her class to give him back. But today she was going out with Glenn and a few others outside the walls.

She hadn't been since a few days ago. She was so used to having the woods available to her, now, now she had to get used to the fact she couldn't just turn and leave. Shaking her head, Bambi brushed her fingers through her now damn, freshly cut hair and took a breath. She had to get going. Class was about to start.

Walking towards her beside table, she quickly grabbed the small knife she kept in her boot and placed it back where it belonged. She didn't feel safe without some type of weapon on her, thankfully Deanna hasn't caught her with this one yet. If she did, she'd have to fight her for it.

"You goin?" The sudden voice of Daryl caught her attention at almost made her jump. She was so lost in her mind and didn't even hear him come upstairs. She turned to face him. He still dressed in his angel wings vest and Bambi couldn't help but chuckle.

"Yeah. Off to school."

"You still going with Glenn? To fix the power or somethin?" He asked, Bambi nodded.

"Yeah. You helping Aaron out today?"

"Maybe."

"Have fun with that. I'll see you later, okay?" Bambi walked over to him and hugged him. He hugged back, and then they pulled apart.

"You're sure you're good to go? That leg hurting or anything? They got plenty of other going. "

"Nah. I'm good."

"You sure?" He asked, again. Bambi smiled.

"Can't keep a deer in a cage, Dixon. I'll be back." She said, and quickly gave him a kiss on the cheek before heading downstairs, where Carl waited for her. Together, they walked towards the garage where the school was held. Carl gave Bambi a soft smile before he headed off towards a couple of boys he met earlier.

"Mrs Dixon?" A student asked, as she made her way over to the desk at the front. She immediately looked over to him, the sound of her name threw her off her feet a bit. She guessed that was another think she'd have to get used to.

"Yes...?" She paused and waited for a name.

"Peter." The young boy said, "what's this book on our desks?" He asked, holding up the book she placed on each desk the day before. She found a bunch of copies of The Great Gatsby and figured that it was the perfect first novel for them to study. She's read it a bunch of times herself.

"It's the book we're gonna start reading together. It's short, but good. We'll read a couple chapters a day, and every week, we'll have questions about it, and when we're done, everyone will write an essay about what they've read." Bambi explained. There were a few groans of annoyance but Bambi smiled.
