Alec Lightwood has always been a man of habit. Perhaps a little too much so. Every morning, he poured himself a cup of hot steaming coffee and enjoyed the rich aroma floating in the air. And every morning, without exception, he used his favorite mug - a simple white ceramic mug decorated with a quirky pattern of drawn cats.
But on one fateful Monday morning, Alec's routine was upended when he reached for his beloved mug and couldn't find it in its usual place on his desk. Panic ran through his veins as he frantically searched his office, hoping he had simply misplaced the mug. But the longer he searched, the more he realized that his favorite mug was nowhere to be found.
Being a man of habit, Alec couldn't start his day without coffee, which he drank only from the mug that had cats on it, so he went on a mission to find the missing mug. He questioned his colleagues, searched the office kitchen and even rummaged through the garbage can. The search was bordering on obsessive, and Alec became increasingly determined to find his cherished property.
He was just elbow-deep in the garbage can in the small kitchen of the office when a man he didn't know entered the kitchen. He was different from anyone Alec had ever met. He was stunning. He wore smoky make-up, and his tight-fitting three-piece suit was so fitted that it left little to Alec's imagination. Jeez the man was gorgeous. And to Alec's surprise, he discovered that the man shared his passion for coffee. And he also shared his MUG. Because when he walked into the kitchen, he was holding Alec's mug. He was raising it to his lips to take the last sip. His lips were as pink as a cherry blossom and as soft as ripe plums. When he removed the mug from his mouth and licked the coffee drip from his lips with his pink tongue, Alec, whose hand was still elbow-deep in the garbage can, groaned loudly.
The man's eyes widened in surprise when he saw the man wearing a suit rummaging through the garbage can, staring at him.
"Pardon me." he said with hesitation, and turned out of the kitchen. Before closing the door, he took one last look at the man kneeling in front of the garbage can. Did he see him blushing? Yes. His cheeks were as red as tomatoes. Magnust wasn't shy when it came to a little flirting, and well, the man, even if he was elbow-deep in a garbage can, was obviously handsome.
His tailored suit gave no indication that he was a homeless garbage collector rummaging through the garbage for a breakfast of discarded food. Besides, what would a homeless man be doing in one of New York's most reputable law firms? Anyway, the raven-haired man somehow caught Magnus' eye. He winked at him, and against all his will, it slipped out of his mouth:
"I could imagine you in some other place on your knees"
Alec almost choked on his own saliva. He stared at the closed door. He froze motionless. He was quite the visual type, and he imagined himself kneeling in front of this beautiful stranger, who had stolen his mug by the way, and whose tightly tailored pants were around his ankles, and Alec stared at his beautiful erection, and just....and then the door opened and a short, red-haired woman rushed in.
When she saw her boss kneeling in front of the garbage can with his hands in it, with a drop of saliva escaping from the corner of his mouth, she didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She finally chose the first option.
"Honey, you didn't have any coffee today, did you? Let me help you." said the tiny woman, helping her boss, who she knew was completely and utterly useless without his morning coffee.
"Someone stole my mug with the cats in it." That was all Alec Lightwood said, his voice as hurt as a little boy's.
She took his boss's hand out of the garbage, sent him to the tap to wash his hands, and made him a strong cup of coffee. In a paper cup. Then she took a marker pen and drew some cats on the cup. She pushed the coffee in the paper cup into his boss' hand, clipped a piece of lettuce off his suit sleeve, and escorted him into his office. While her boss sipped his well-deserved coffee from the paper cup, she began to talk:
