Kalia's POV
I woke up feeling happier than the day before, especially since Jay surprised me with breakfast and helped me with my exercises and do my skin care. Experiencing being taken care of was a new feeling for me, and I was reluctant for it to ever end.
At lunch, usually, Eomma would arrive with food, and then Jay would head for a boxing match. After that, Dr. Kim would visit to check on me.
Dr. Kim was a mirror image of Jay in behavior and expressions, but the rest of his features took after his mother. His dark eyes, flecked with gold, mirrored hers, along with his dark hair and plump lips. The two shared high cheekbones and a warm smile. Both she and I were of similar height, and I noticed that Dr. Kim was just a few inches shorter than Jay. He was undeniably handsome, carrying a serious and stern expression, with beautiful brown eyes and salt-and-pepper hair, quite distinct from Jay's look.
I loved seeing them together—Dr. Kim transformed when he was around Mina, Jay's mom. He turned into a completely different person, melting at the sight of her. Suddenly, he became like a teenager in love, ready to do anything for his lover. The change in him was both heartwarming and amusing, witnessing his undeniable affection and devotion.
Today was no different, with the director of Kim Hospital trying to set up an easel that Mina had gotten for me. Just a kiss on the cheek from her, and Dr. Kim was on it in a flash.
"Can you draw us?" Mina asked as we watched Dr. Kim struggle a bit.
"Sure!" I replied eagerly, but inside, I felt a little panic. What if I couldn't meet their expectations? "But it's been a while."
"I'm sure you'll do just fine. They say once you learn art, you never forget it. You got this," she reassured me, holding my hands. I couldn't understand what I did to deserve someone like her and Dr. Kim in my life. They had welcomed me like family, and I was so grateful. My heart overflowed with joy every time I was around them. They had brought the most amazing man into my life, and I would be forever thankful.
"I'll do my best," I said with a smile.
She looked satisfied for a moment, but then her eyes widened, and she raised a finger. "I remember now. Appa, when can she come home with us?"
Home with them? The thought kept buzzing in my mind. What would happen after the hospital? Where would I go? What would I do next? I wanted to hold onto this dream for as long as I could, avoiding the reality waiting for me outside these walls. I wasn't ready to give this up. I had so many questions for Jay, but every time I tried to ask, the words got stuck in my throat.
"In like three days or so, I think. It all depends on the last examinations and blood tests," Dr. Kim replied, looking pleased with his work on the easel.
"Such good news! I can't wait," Mina beamed, clapping her hands. I watched her joyfully move away from the bed to give her husband a kiss for his efforts. They looked so happy together, and seeing their joy was heartwarming.
The click of the door signaled Jay's return from his workout. I turned to face him, realizing it had quickly become one of my favorite sights. Ever since I woke up, I couldn't get enough of him. I adored every part of him, from his casual attire—simple, comfortable, loose clothes, especially those gray sweatpants that left little to the imagination—to when he'd work on his computer, where the glasses made him look so sexy, making me want to straddle him, push the glasses aside, and kiss him breathless while sitting in his strong, muscular lap.
And then there was this Jay dressed in shorts and a fitted shirt. Even if the outfit wasn't designed to accentuate his muscles, they were still prominently on display, larger in the best way possible. The glistening drips of sweat, which might be a turn-off for some, were just the cherry on top for me. But above all, I adored his hair. I had always loved it, but this style—short on the sides, longer on top, with a few strands framing his forehead perfectly, inviting his hand to run through it—made me bite my lip every time I saw him. It was sexy, perfect, and most importantly, he was mine.
