Harry shoves his hands into his pockets as his steps into the great hall, making his way over to the Slytherin Table.
Throwing his body down into place beside Pansy he drops his chin onto her shoulder.

He watches as she narrows her eyes at him.
"You are crinkling my shirt,"
"You don't normally complain about that," he whispers, trying not to be embarrassed at his own comment.

"Bold of you," she mumbles while Blaise chuckles from across them.

Draco takes a seat beside Adrian and barely spares them half a glance.

"Hey Draco." Pansy says pointedly, narrowing her eyes in distaste at the blonde.

"I have more important things to worry about then you missing me right now Pansy. So do us both a favour and get over it."

"Fine, lose everyone. See if I care." She turns her nose up and focuses on Harry, fussing over his hair.
His eyes soften as he watches her, delicately taking her hands in his he stops her moments.
"Pansy, it is ok to not be ok,"
"Don't be silly Harry, I'm fine. You're hair isn't though,"
He fakes a small smile and releases her wrists, allowing her to once more fuss over his hair.
Her fingers curling it at every different angle in an attempt to control it.

"Is Hermione not having breakfast?" Theo asks, and Blaise's eyes flit quickly to Draco, watching him tense the smallest amount before returning to normal.

"Maybe she had a late night," Blaise jokes, testing for another reaction.
He gets exactly what he wanted when Draco's hand tightens around his fork.

"Oh please," Pansy scoffs, "She would be out here trying to avoid the memory of it if she did,"

"If you don't mind, I am trying to eat." Draco snarls, slamming his fork down.

"Does talking about my sex life bother you Malfoy?" Hermione snarls, having approached the group as they finished the conversation.

He scoffs, "Didn't realise you had one to actually discuss,"
She narrows her eyes but he continued, "Oh do tell us Granger, what book were you up reading that made you sleep in,"

"For your information Malfoy, not that it is any of your business. A book isn't what kept me up last night,"
"Were you with someone," Pansy asks immediately.
A faint blush covers Hermione's cheeks and Pansy slams a hand down on the table and stand up, pointing at her in shock.
"Oh my, you did!" she practically squeals.
"Maybe this isn't the place," Harry mumbles as he rests a hand on her lower back, the other lightly gripping her arm to pull her back down.

She nods dismissively, "So, who was it?"
"No one, I wasn't-"
"Don't lie to me Hermione," Pansy admonishes.

Hermione shakes her head, pressing her lips firmly together.

"Was it a Slytherin?" Blaise asks, a smirk pulling at his lips as he stares at Pansy.

Pansy looks at him confused for a few seconds before her jaw drops in shock.

"No..." she trails off, her hand going to cover her mouth.

"Define partner," she whispers staring at Adrian.
"What?" Adrian responds, not giving anything away.

"You implied there was a person of romantic interest in Draco's life," she says.
"A what now?" Draco snarls, his fork once more being slammed against his plate. He narrows his eyes at Adrian.

Hermione begins to pile food onto her plate, grabbing some toast and jam.
"Where were you on Sunday?" Pansy asks her.
"What?"
"During the Ravenclaw game."
"The library, I was finishing my potions essay,"
"You said you finished that," Harry says, his eyes finally meeting hers.
"I thought of another point on the uses of moondust, it is a highly experimental theory but it can-"
"How long did that take you?"

"A few hours,"
"Then what did you do for the rest of the game,"
"Read."
"What books,"
"Hogwarts: A history, then Charms: the Timeline I think,"
"I have your copy of that book," Theo adds, grinning as he folds his arms across his chest.
"I said I think, I read multiple books that day," she snarls.
"Well I think-"
"Are you finished?" Hermione snaps, when she is met with silence she begins to eat.

"Nice tone Hermione, it almost is familiar," Theo teases.
"Oh go back to chasing imaginary creatures," she snarls.
"No need to be such a bitch,"
"Is she wrong though," Draco cuts in, tilting his head as he watches Theo.

Adrian freezes, he is sitting between the two boys and they both glare past him at eachother.

"There is no proof they don't exist."
"There is also no proof they do exist." Hermione snaps.
"There is a chance,"
"Biologically for those creature to exist, Earth would need to have a lower oxygen level and a healthier planet as a base point. If those creatures ever existed it would have been thousands of years ago."

Draco smirks at Theo's silence, beginning to eat the food on his plate.

"What is the leather book kept under your bed," Pansy snaps.
"Oh do you share everything with her," Draco snarls at Adrian.
"I didn't know what it was,"
"Then it isn't your business. It isnt yours either." he snarls at Pansy.

With narrowed eyes, she dumps the leather clad book onto the table.

"Hermione try and open it,"
"No," Draco snarls.
"I don't need her fingerprints on a Malfoy book," he adds after a moment of pause.

"Hermione," Pansy says, staring adamantly at her.

She sighs, reaching out for the book and running her fingers across the top.
The table collectively held their breath, waiting for something to happen.

"See nothing-" Draco was cut off by the loud bang exploding for the book as a black gas began to cover the hand against the cover.

"Fuck," Draco mumbled, standing immediately and shoving Blaise roughly out of the way as he grabbed Hermione's wrist.
"It's ok, it will only hurt for a minute," he quietly soothed while muttering incantations.
As the black substance began to fade, Draco ran his thumb over the back of her hand, now red from the spell.

"What was that?" she mumbled.
"A defense," he answered.
"Why didn't it do that do me or Adrian?" Pansy demanded.

Draco averted their gaze immediately, dropping Hermione's hand and stepping back.
"Because you are pureblood." He whispers, his voice going hoarse.

"Did you know?" Hermione whispered, her eyes never leaving his face.
"That it would do that? No. I knew Malfoy Manor had a few books that had protections on them. I wouldn't have thought that book, why that one has it. Fuck I didn't know, I didn't know Hermione. I would never have let you, if I knew."

"I know," she whispers, finally averting her gaze.

"I have a potion I can give you to ease the pain and I'll try to find out what spell it was." He says, still rambling.

"It's fine, I'll do it myself," she whispers, slowly walking past him.

"Hermione,"
"It's fine." She gives the group a tight smile before walking out of the Great Hall.
