I sat there motionless, staring at the wall, my mind a whirlwind of confusion and unanswered questions. Everything felt like a jumbled mess in my head, and I couldn't make sense of any of it. Katie? The name echoed in my mind, pulling me deeper into a haze of uncertainty.

Then, suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to see Kai standing beside me, concern etched across his face. I blinked, realizing I had been staring at him, lost in thought.

"Hey, Jade! You okay?" he asked, his voice soft but tinged with worry.

"H-Huh? Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," I stammered, trying to pull myself together. Should I ask him? The question lingered on the tip of my tongue, but I hesitated, unsure of what his reaction would be.

Kai's expression softened, and he smiled warmly. "Glad you're alright. I actually bought you some soupy ramen to enjoy and even got you some eggs and beef so you can get some energy, and Choco milk." He dragged a small table beside him, carefully assembling the food while I sat there, still dazed.

I couldn't help but stare at him again, my mind replaying the strange events that had unfolded. Who is Katie?

"Jade! Don't look at me like that, you pervert!" Kai teased, suddenly becoming dramatic. I laughed, the tension in the room easing slightly as he joined in with a chuckle.

"Now, eat properly," he urged, bringing the food closer. The warm aroma of the ramen filled the air, and I began to eat, savoring the taste. It was comforting, a small moment of normalcy in the chaos.

Kai sat near my feet on the bed, a wide smile on his face as he watched me eat. But as I continued, something gnawed at me, and before I could stop myself, I blurted out, "Hey, Kai! Who is Katie?"

The change in his demeanor was immediate. His face went pale, the smile vanishing as quickly as it had appeared. "How do you know that name?" he asked, his tone suddenly cold and low, a stark contrast to the warmth he had shown just moments before.

"I... I heard it in my sleep," I lied, unable to tell him the truth. I need to find out everything myself.

Kai's eyes darkened, and he seemed to withdraw into himself. "Katie is my sister. I can't tell you a lot about her, but all I can say is she's my baby sister, the youngest in the family." His voice grew quieter, his fists clenching as he spoke. "I need some time for myself. I'll come pick you up later."

Without another word, he cleaned up the table and walked out of the room, his steps heavy with frustration.

Katie is his sister? But he called me Katie... Who am I then?

Before I could dwell on it any further, another thought pierced through the fog in my mind—Alex. The image of her kissing that other guy flashed before my eyes, reigniting the pain. Tears welled up again, streaming down my face. I loved her. What did I do to deserve this?

I grabbed my phone, my fingers trembling as I dialed her number. I need to end this.

The phone rang, and to my surprise, she picked up.

On the phone

Jade: "Hey, Alex!"

Alex: "Hey, baby! I'm so sorry I haven't been able to text you. I've been really busy with work, especially after everything with your family and you moving away. Are you okay? Anything serious?"

Jade: "...No, I'm fine. I was just wondering if you're free tomorrow so we can hang out a little. I really want to see you—I miss you."

Alex: "Aww, baby, I miss you too. Yeah, sure, let's meet tomorr—"

???: "Oh, I miss you so much, baby~~" a voice mocked in the background.

Alex: "Don't talk so loudly! She might hear you!" she whispered harshly.

Jade: "Who was that?"

Alex: "No one, babe, it's just the TV!"

Jade: "I see... Tomorrow, then. See you! I love you!"

Alex: "Sure! Love you too!"

But just before I hung up, I heard something else.

Alex: "How many times have I told you to be patient, Zen?"

Zen: "I know, but I was just messing around. She probably didn't even notice."

Alex: "Hopefully, she didn't. Ugh! Well, now that she doesn't have anything left, I think I'm done stripping everything off her. God, she was so annoying! I would've never dated her if it wasn't for her money."

Zen: "I know, honey. But now you're mine forever."

The sound of them making out filled the line, followed by the click of the call ending.

The tears that had been streaming down my face suddenly stopped. They turned into something darker, something I had never felt before—anger. How could she do this to me? After everything?

But if she wanted to play this game, I would play it better. I will ruin her. A smirk curled on my lips as I began to plan.
