Leaping out of the previously comfortable position, I put on my shoes and rush out the door, not bothering to turn off the lights or put my phone in my pocket. Once outside I look left and right trying to find the right path to take to get as far away from there.
For kilometres all I see is woods. I run straight into the woods dodging trees left and right. I run and run not once looking back. I don’t stop. I have to get away. I have to. This is right. I confirm in my head. It has to be.
Up ahead is a small river. Perfect. I jump in and swim to the other side not caring about my clothes. I need to get away. I continue running.
The trees thinned out around me. The ground changed from the green grass to a grey concrete. White lines were painting on the ground, indicating where cars are to park. All of these spaces have cars lining up in them in neat rows. Not one out of place. A girl around my age was walking through the lot with thousands of bags in her hands.
“Do you want some help?” I call out walking over to her calmly. She turns her head and see me standing there.
“Oh,” she replies thinking about it. “If you wouldn’t mind.” I grab a few bags and follow her across the lot to her car.
“So,” she starts. “Why are you currently wet?”
“Well,” I begin. “That is a long story, that I am afraid that I do not have time to tell.”
“That is a shame,” she replies. “I bet it would be a good one.”
“Yep,” I answer. “It is.” We reach her car and she opens the boot to her car. We start placing all the bags neatly into her car.
“Well, thank you for helping me,” she says when we finish loading her car.
“Yeah it is not problem,” I reply. She starts to move towards the driver side door when I heard a familiar yell.
“TASH!” comes a voice I dreaded to hear. “TASH!”
“Shit,” I say under my breath. I back away from the voice trying to locate the exact place the voice will come to. “Shit, shit, shit.”
“TASH! TASH!” the yelling doesn’t stop.
“Hey do you need a ride somewhere?” askes the stranger that I helped with her bags.
“Yes please,” I reply feeling relief spread through my body. I could get away from there. Away from the person that I don’t want to talk to. I run around to the other side of the car and jump in not thinking about where I am going or what is going to happen in the future.
