A few days later - Police station
By now, Izuku was sitting in a less intense interrogation room, across from Detective Tsukauchi Naomasa.
"So, can you tell me exactly what you remember from the incident?" The detective asked, wanting to get this over with so the child didnt have to suffer for long.
Izuku was already very sad, and that question broke him. He started sobbing and ran out of the room, much to Naomasa's suprise. Tsukauchi immediately got to his feet and ran after the viridian haired child, and immediately saw the child run into the underground hero: Eraserhead, as he was coming through the door.
Izuku fell to the geound, or at least that's what he thought was going to happen until he felt a strong bur comforting arm around his small back.
He looked up to see warm black eyed staring at him in confusion and concern. He just tried to wriggle from the hero's hold and eventually managed to do so, but barely able to continue running as be was soo emotionally drained he just fell to his knees a few steps out of the door, altering the pro entering behind the black haired man: Present Mic, who immediately knelt by the boy and put a hand on his back.
"Hey, hey, are you Alright? What's wrong, little listener?" He asks in a soothing voice.
"I w- want my M- mommy!" Izuku wails, breaking down in front of the eccentric yellow hero.
Immediately, something in both the black and yellow heroes breaks. Eraserhead kneels down next to Present Mic and starts talking to the boy.
"Hey. My name is Shota Aizawa, Pro Hero Eraserhead. And this is Hizashi Yamada, or Present Mic. Could you tell us what happened?" He asks in the most calming voice he can manage.
Izuki gives in and takes the comfort the yellow haired hero is offering and dives in for the hug, responding to Aizawa with a faint voice,
"She's.... dead." He says, eyes glossy as he buries his face in Yamada's shoulder.
The air around the three thickened as Aizawa and Yamada grew tense.
'His mom died? That's why he's soo sad...' Yamada thought in realisation.
'This poor kid... I really want to protect him for some reason.' Aizawa thought, thinking of a way to lighten the mood.
"Let's go back inside and we can talk. Would you like that?" He suggests, earning himself a proud look from his husband and a slight nod from the greenette.
A few minutes later, the three plus Tsukauchi were sitting in what looked like a waiting room, just without the chairs and a few couches, and Izuku was curled up on one couch next to Aizawa, who had his arm around the now timid boy.
"So, can you tell us what's wrong? Why were you crying so much?" He asks, trying to ease around the full story.
"I- I picked up my pen... everything was bright, then dark, then a red light came out of my pen and I drew a sword... then there was a really cool sword in my hand... then I dropped it... then everything was fire... then mom-...mom just-" He was about to spiral again, but Aizawa just started stroking his hair and whispering reassurances to him, calming him down really quick.
"So you manifested your quirk and it went haywire, you made a coop looking sword and it made a lot of fire?" The erasure hero dumbed it down. Getting a nod in return. "Right. Do you think you could tell us more about your quirk?"
Izuku shook his head, "I just picked up my pen- my pen... where is it!-" he was about to panic before he slammed his hand to the side of his thigh, only to feel the familiar shape of the pen in his pocket.
"There it is." He sighed to himself.
"That's a cool looking pen! Could you show me?" Yamada asked, looking genuinely interested.
Izuku pulled the pen out and held it up for Yamada to see, everyone glancing at it to see it. Everyone had the same track of thought that was 'beautiful...'
"Izuku? I'm sorry to ask this, but do you think you could use your quirk again? To make something." Taukauchi tried.
All that he got out of that was a hyperventilating child crying and on the verge of a panic attack.
"No. No. If I use it I'll burn down everything. No! No! NO!"
"Izuku, calm down." Aizawa said, hugging the small boy, calming his thoughts instantly, hugging the man back as Aizawa coaches him through breathing exercises.
"Ok, that's out of the question. Let's revisit this at another time. For now, we need to find an orphanage to put him in, and wait a few months before we can get his quirk status changed from quirkless." The detective mumbles to himself.
"I'll take him." Aizawa says, completely serious, shocking everyone in the room.
Yamada was confused but ecstatic.
Tsukauchi was simply confused.
And Izuku was shocked.
"W- What?" Izuku asked, not sure he heard the hero correctly.
"Are you sure, Eraser?" Tsukauchi asked.
"I've seen how the quirkless are treated in the foster system and I refuse to let another child go through that. You said you cant change his records yet? No one will believe a four year old kid over official medical documents. It would only lead to more trouble. Me and Hizashi will adopt the kid." He said, full confidence in every work.
Hizashi was practically vibrating with excitement at this point and started waving his arms about in place in excitement, slightly bouncing in his seat.
Izuku was stimming nervously in his place on the couch, not thinking that the hero was serious. "Why me?" He asked quietly.
"Why not you? We've been looking to adopt, and we already like you. And as far as I'm aware, you are in need of some guardians at the moment. So what do you say?"
At that, Izuku rapidly nodded his head, waving his arms like Mic was already doing and hugged the man's side.
"I can get that processed by Tuesday." Tsukauchi says. "Sorry for asking about sensitive stuff, kid." He apologises with the best smile he could manage.
Izuku gives him a sad smile back, but Tsukauchi can feel the forgiveness in his smile.
After that, Aizawa and Yamada started filling out paperwork. Or more like Aizawa was, while Yamada and Izuku just stood behind him stimming happily.
I'm making both Izuku and Hizashi autistic in this. Go away if you dont like it!
When they were done, Tsukauchi gave them some paperwork that showed that Izuku was their foster kid, only so that it was legal for him to stay with the two heroes.
No idea how this crap works so just follow along with my bulshit :)
They left and started heading towards the Yamada-Aizawa household, picking up a few things for Izuku at the mall on the way back.
All in all, he's had an eventful day. As soon as he sat down on the couch while Yamada went to get him some water, he was out like a light.
"Zashi, look." Shota whisper-yelled from the kitchen doorway.
Yamada cooed softly when he saw the sleeping boy, gliding over and draping a blanket over him and sitting down next to him, playing a game on his phone while Shota made dinner.
The day has been hectic enough, it cant possible get worse, can it?
